Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

I bugged my fiance about his nephew being perfect for my niece for awhile and I was totally right. They met this past weekend and hit it off. They’re only 14 and it was just too cute.

MATCH ME!! I played matchmaker in high school with my best friend and one of our guy friends. They didn’t start dating back then, but now it’s ten years later and they’re engaged. I like to think I had something to do with them finally getting together.

Someone my husband and I don’t really like actually, was saying we should date before we barely knew each other. Turns out they were right! As we are both pretty stubborn people, I am so happy our mutual dislike for this person and their opinions didn’t keep us from being together! Ha ha!

Yes, when I was dating I was set up a few times. All of them =disasters. I always felt like the matchmaker invested too much in it; the reality is you can’t predict what other people like. Or maybe it was just crappy match-making. :)

In college I was a fan of going out with large groups of people whether they knew each other or not. Call me a joiner I guess. Because of these gatherings I introduced two guys who liked me to two of my best friends and both couples are now happily married, hee hee!! Just call me Yenta I guess. ;)

Yes, I played matchmaker once. I tried to hook a friend of mine up with a guy she was interested in but was too shy to approach herself. Turns out the guy wasn’t interested in my friend but was very keen on going out with me instead. After much angst-ridden deliberation I finally went out on a date with him. 11 years later we’re still together. Me and my friend though? Not so much.

I was introduced to a guy after he talked to my friend and she wasn’t interested. She did the sly move of asking if he’d met me yet. We’ve been together for 4 years and married for 2…with a baby girl due in less than a month. I would love the gift card to snazz up her in-progress nursery!

My friend set me up in high school with a friend of her boyfriend’s…. he started dating his ex-girlfriend (who his parents hated) while he was ‘dating’ me and told his parents he was hanging out with me, while he was really hanging out with her. Follow that? No more matchmaking after that… :)
