Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

I did play matchmaker with a school friend and work buddy once. I ended up hearing details that I never wanted to know. I could never look them in the eyes again.

For years people tried to tell me what a catch T$ was but I ignored their pleas for me to see how compatible we were. Once our friends stopped the chattering I realized how great he really was and eventually became Mrs. T$!

MATCH ME!! I once tried to unite a couple of my friends – they were both interested, so it was a fun experiment, but ultimately they just didn’t share many common interests. No hard feelings resulted but I felt it wasn’t really my calling so I never tried again.

MATCH ME!! Our walls are slowly filling up but I always have trouble finding prints that match items I already love – this is aaa-mazing!!

My hubby and I are a product of matching making – with at twist! One of my best friends in college tried to set me up (for 2.5 years!!) with her dear friend David from high school who went to college 45 minutes from us. I kept refusing the match for various reasons. A few months before graduation, I visited a new church in Knoxville where I’d be living after college…turns out I had sat in someone’s favorite seat…and that someone was DAVID! We hit it off instantly with out a formal match making intro and the rest is history!

I’m a pretty good matchmaker :) Most of my matches turn into long term relationships, but none have gone further than that. I wouldn’t call it 100% successful, but I’m pretty good at finding people who should work out (but don’t)

I don’t actively play matchmaker, but I do subtly encourage people towards people I think they’d be good with, and if something naturally comes of it, great! And if not, then no awkwardness to worry about! :)
