Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

MATCH ME! Actually, I met my husband because my friend, who I had met while working at a Young Life camp, played matchmaker. She went home (they lived 1,000 miles away), and told him, “I met your future wife.” And, in fact, she did! :)

I have played Matchmaker, but never very ardently. I guess I’ve never really known two people I thought would be “perfect” together.

I’ve never directly attempted to play match maker, but I’ve been responsible for several introductions that led to marriage. I have been known to brag and take full credit for these weddings…

    MATCH ME!!!

I’ve only played matchmaker once — when I broke up with my college boyfriend I suggested that he date a girl we both knew once he was ready to start dating again. He did start dating her a few months later, but she eventually cheated on him with his best friend, so I should probably avoid matchmaking in the future.

I’ve only played cupid once that I can remember. Although they are no longer together, it didn’t go horribly wrong so I would try it again.

I attempted to play matchmaker once. But it never panned out. Probably for the best…it can be sticky when your friend dates your roommate.

    MATCH ME!

In high school, my friends wanted me to date this guy who liked me a lot, but we were just friends. I repeatedly told my other friends to date him if they liked him so much, but they kept pressuring me to date him. Eventually I did – now, six years later, we are getting married in a month!

MATCH ME! A friend tried to set me up once with a distance relationship and it simply didn’t work. We only met a few times and our meeting point was our mutual friends place. But the odd part was that my friend got insanely jealous when I’d spend more of the weekend with him than her. She went on to set up a couple that did end up getting married but for 50/50 I’d suggest she still keep her day job.

Match me! My mother constantly tried to hook me up with my different friends in high school-umm no! So embarrassing, every time any boys came to the house mom would mention whatever boy she wanted me to date and “got the scoop” from our friends about his situation, oh the horror. Now her sights are set on my brother, bless his soul.
