Fab Freebie: Matchmaker, Matchmaker

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our winner, thanks to the willy nilly matchmaking skills of random.org, is… Sharon (who’s hoping to be matched up with a piece of art to finish off a master bedroom renovation). Congrats!

Art.com is full of affordable stuff to help solve Naked Wall Syndrome (like these horse prints that we recently purchased) so we’re psyched that they’re giving away an $250 gift card to one of you lucky folks this week. They’ve launched a new tool called Match My Image that promises to come in handy next time you’re hunting for the perfect piece. You just upload an image – maybe of a fabric that you’re trying to coordinate or a photo that you’re using as inspiration – and it spits out a slew of art in that color scheme/vein that’s available for purchase. Here’s what we happened upon when we uploaded a couple of personal pictures (a photo of the river here in Richmond and a painting that Clara recently whipped up). Fun, right?

ArtDotComGiveaway

  • PRIZE: A $250 gift card to Art.com
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MATCH ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us if you’ve ever tried playing matchmaker? Or has someone else tried to match you up? How did it all work out? Was it amazing? Or should you (or your would-be matchmaker) stick to their day job?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 13th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Art.com.

    MATCH ME!

A family friend once tried to set me up on a blind date with her coworker’s son, who went to my college. She told me the name, and eep! I’d had classes with him and he was NOT someone I wanted to date. I’m not opposed to blind dates, but make sure the guy and I would be at least halfway compatible.

    Match Me!!

I was ‘matched’ on a date with what I was told was a rugged, blue eyed, cowboy. He WAS blue eyed and rugged…so rugged that his favorite hobby was taxidermy and while we were driving back from the big city from our movie date we passed some road kill that he thought was a bob cat. He very politely asked if I would mind stopping to check out the cat and if ‘stuff-able’ throw it in the back of the pick-up. LUCKILY (I lived in Kansas at the time), and another farmer had already claimed the cat by the time we turned around.

Match me! Both times I have been ‘matched’ have turned into a sort of for a while, but they then both failed miserably. (kind of like that paper airplane that you think is going to fly, but then…it falls and crumples into the paper ball it was destined to be)

My husband and I met on match.com (were living 4 blocks away from each other, took the same commuter train home every night, and I found out later he knew my upstairs neighbor). And to top it off, now my old roommate and his old roommate are married! They met through us, were both dating other people when they first met, but then got together about 2 years after my husband and I met. So, the match was not intentional, but I still claim credit for it.

Match me… I have tried to play matchmaker, but never was too successful. I was also matched…Five years ago, at a camp I volunteered for, met a guy that insisted I meet his friend. So, a month after camp, I agreed to a blind date and now we will be married in 2 months. I guess some blind dates and matches do work out!

MATCH ME! My husband and I were set up by a mutual and well…so far, it’s turned out great! We will celebrate our 10 year anniversary this December. :) On the flip side, we set up my best friend with his best friend…that turned out pretty bad…broken engagement, 3rd party…messed up friendship (for a while, it’s good now)…won’t be playing matchmaker again.
