Fab Freebie: Love Is Blinds

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won!***

Sure, we’d all love to gaze out of our home’s windows at some breathtakingly beautiful vista. But in reality, some windows are portals to the back of the neighbor’s fence, an unwelcome glare, or even the view of a man walking around in his tighty-whities all night because he doesn’t realize his curtains are sheer (true story from my New York City days – yup, just like the naked guy from Friends). All the more reason to appreciate window coverings, like these beauties from Next Day Blinds:

NextDayBlinds Image 1

This week Next Day Blinds is shucking out $200 to one lucky lad or lady to spend towards any custom-made, premium-quality, ready-the-next-day blinds, shades, sheers, rollers, romans or even shutters. And they’ve got enough styles to make your head spin (which you can browse right here).

NextDayBlinds Image 2

Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: $200 towards any Next Day Blinds order
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLIND ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a view you wish you could cover (or are glad that you’ve already covered). Maybe the neighbors can look right into your bathroom (or vice versa)? Or you once stayed in a hotel room with a not so nice view?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, November 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

And our one lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Hien (who’s looking to cover up some sun-drenched kitchen windows). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Next Day Blinds.

BLIND ME! In San Francisco, my living room window looked straight across to what was clearly a bachelor pad in the apartment across the street. I had a very clear shot of this gentleman’s living room and bathroom!! I would often see the bachelor-in-residence standing in his bathroom with his back to my apartment window as he relieved himself with his bathroom door wide open. To top it off, he would crane his neck around to keep an eye on his TV all the while…clearly he did not want to miss any action of what I can only assume was a sports game of some kind on TV. I no longer live there, but it’s still a GREAT story!!

    BLIND ME!

Our bedroom has covers, but in the evening if the bedroom light is on, anyone on the outside of our house can see full outlines of whoever is inside. Needless to say, we’ve taken to changing in the guest room at night, or on the side of the room away from the window. Would love a new solution to fix this one!

My bedroom really needs help… not only are the curtains cheap brown ones that won’t block out any light (no sleeping in on the weekends!) but we have a creepy neighbor that we SWEAR is always trying to look in our windows–I know, creepy right???

So yeah, we def need new treatments!!

Currently our bedroom doesn’t have blinds and the sun rises to greet us everyday. Originally there were blinds, but they were a dirty pink color and were one of the first tossed things! Haha.

My story comes from a family wedding I attended a while back. We were staying in a “V” shaped hotel, on the inside of the “V”. Every room had a balcony. So, the morning after the wedding, my brother and our dates were sipping coffee on our balcony when a young lady came out onto her balcony across the way. Her boyfriend/partner/SigOth/whatever followed her out and before we knew it, the were doing something I’m not sure is legal in public. ANYWHERE. Oh the emotional scars!

I once had a peeping tom and ever since then, I am PETRIFIED of having uncovered windows. Unfortunately (or fortunately, as I love my home) I have 20 windows in my 107-year-old house. I could definitely use the $200 to help cover those!

We desparately need to block our view of ::sigh:: our yard! It’s on our to-do list, but in the mean time, yes, we are the neighborhood eye sore.

BTW, we need a pool make over so if you can give away some good-looking construction workers, we’d be all over that.
