Fab Freebie: It’s A Cinch

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

People sometimes question the purpose of Twitter, but when it helps us find great giveaways it certainly earns another point in our book. So imagine our delight when Fresh Leaf Designs tweeted us about giving away their signature Cushion Corset pillows to one of our lucky readers.

Okay, so it was actually a mix of delight and confusion. After all, what’s a cushion corset anyway? It’s actually a very smart and stylish solution to dressing up a plain ol’ pillow. Just like the name indicates, the corset (i.e. a band of bold fabric) wraps around the pillow and ties in the back creating a punchy accent pillow that, if your mood changes, can easily be “re-dressed” in another corset for a completely new look. Easy, right?

Fresh Leaf Designs

And as you can see from these pictures, Fresh Leaf Designs also sells complimentary throw pillows in coordinating fabrics to help bring even more color to your couch, chair or bed.

Fresh Leaf Designs

So if you wanna snag a set of Fresh Leaf’s great designs, just comment on this post with the words “IT’S A CINCH” by Wednesday, April 29th at 8pm EST. And while you’re at it, tell us your easiest trick for dressing up your house in a flash (ex: fresh flowers? a quick window cleaning? a bowl of fruit on the table? simply making the bed?).

Fresh Leaf Designs

One winner will be randomly selected to receive their choice of the two pillow sets shown in this post. This giveaway’s open to all of our international readers as well as everyone in the good ol’ US of A. Please limit one entry per e-mail address. Good luck…

    It’s a cinch!

I’ve got no tricks in my memory, at the moment, since we’ve been living in a construction zone for nearly a year – I don’t both too much when company’s coming over except to clear the sink of dishes and make sure the downstairs bathroom is clean.

To freshen/dress up any room I do a quick tidy, spritz a little room spray or light a candle, fluff the pillows & my favorite…lay out a beautiful bowl or dish filled with something both pretty & yummy, like individually wrapped belgian chocolates or fresh fruit. Nothing is more inviting than food :)

    It’s a cinch!!

If there’s any clutter around (and, HA! who am I kidding? with 2 kids, a pack-rat hubster & a dog w/ tons of toys) I quickly stuff it into drawers, baskets, and other available containers out of sight.

Then, I take some Lemon Pledge, or other lemon scented cleaner and wipe down as many of the furniture surfaces as possible.

The scent of Lemon Pledge especially…or any lemon scent for that matter, really tricks one into thinking the whole house smells clean.

To freshen up the house, I open all windows, quickly wipe all surfaces, put all papers and books in neat stacks and stick some fallen leaves into a vase.

Freshening up is easy with some baskets or decorative storage devices that can quickly house anything laying around. The baskets are cute and functional!

Lately our flower garden has been going bonanza! So I freshen up the house by trimming the flowers around the garden and putting them in different containers around our house. I try to use different sizes, textures, colors to fit either my mood, the flowers or the room :)

Right now my favorite containers are the ones we got on our honeymoon in Costa Rica. Not only do the flowers brighten our day, the little containers remind us of the awesome time we had there!

We’re in the process of packing to move, so just making the bed and clearing the floor of clutter is our main goal to spruce things up right now. A colored afghan on the back of the couch or chairs is my favorite way to add color and coziness at the same time.

The easiest trick for dressing up my house in a flash is cleaning the living/dinning room, taking everything that do not belong in the room and lighting a scented candle (Fresh Cotton) next to the window.

Our quick clean-up usually includes putting toys away and cleaning the floors.

Cooking or baking something for friends always makes the house smell inviting and delicious.

It’s a cinch! Quick sprucing up includes plumping up our pillows and adding a little karate chop to the center, fresh flowers and getting rid of clutter (or throwing it all in the laundry basket to hide in the closet for the time being)! A quick spritz of lemony Pledge to make the furniture shine and leave the house smelling clean and fresh is always our best trick :)

What I really like to do, if I have the time though, is vacumn to dress up our home. Vacumning the floors and our couch, which is microfiber. It just makes it look clean. There’s also the straighting up, putting things away like clearing the table and countertops of junk!
