Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I just finished a stack of thank you notes to friends and family who sent us sweet little gifts after hearing the news of our babe-on-the-way. (Have the ink-stained pinky to prove it!) I am a BIG fan of hand-written notes and letters and will never stop despite the inarguable convenience of emails and texts. Thanks mucho!

My boyfriend and I had a long-distance relationship for years, and we just recently managed to move to the same place, where we bought a house. We were unpacking, and he held up this shoebox, filled with all the letters I had sent him. He kept every one. I was so touched!

I LOVE hand written letters and agree that these days, people don’t send them enough! I think that taking the time to write someone is both well-mannered and there’s also something romatic about it. I recently wrote a dear friend a thank you note for a wonderful housewarming present she had gifted my husband and I with!

my mom sends out regular “thank you” and “just thinking of you” notes in the mail. about once a month we will get a card saying she enjoyed our last visit or thanking us for the dessert we brought to dinner. old fashioned as she may be, seeing her handwriting on a card in my post box always brings a smile to my face.

I’m huge proponent of hand-writing – a bit of a luddite at heart. I prefer old school loose-leaf, lined notebook paper, with a classic #2 pencil. I love eraser marks and even scribble and scratch out marks.
I try to write monthly letters to my parents, my girlfriend-my love, and quirky little haiku to friends. Oh yeah, and call me weird, but I love licking envelopes…

The last letter I received was from a long lost cousin that I recently got in touch with. She heard through the grapevine that I graduated from college and asked my parents for my address. She sent me a lovely 3 page letter congratulating me and bringing me up to date with her life. Since that initial letter in May, we have been writing back and forth. It’s so nice to receive a letter in the mail instead of just bills and junk mail. :)

I am loving this freebie! I am the queen of the thank you note. I preach to everyone how important it is to follow up any gift with a hand written thank you note. I will most definitely instill this in my children as well. I have to say one of my most memorable hand written notes was recently from my best friend. He popped over to my house to use our washing machine (his was broken) and left me a quick note to say how much he appreciated me and everything that I do for him. It was so heart felt and without any special occasion to spark it. Just any old day to say how much we mean to each other. Those are the best kind!

I’m also a fan of sending handwritten notes & cards to soldiers that I don’t know who are stationed overseas, their responses, although few and far between, are soooo worth it, they’re so appreciative.
