Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I just wrote a handwritten note today thanking my old preschool teacher for her late wedding gift. My husband and I were both in a friend’s wedding last weekend that cost us quite a lot of money, so we ran into some financial stress. We need about $200 to cover the hotel costs, final tux payments and gas to the wedding. Out of nowhere came a check in the mail from my old pre-school teacher. It was a $250 late wedding present (we got married a year ago). An answered prayer like that deserved a hand written note!!

Every time my father goes on vacation, even if it’s just to the beach, he sends me a funny little note written on a vintage postcard. I love this so much – I rarely get handwritten mail of any kind anymore, so a fun postcard is always a lovely treat.

I made a new year’s resolution to write my grandmother a note every week this year, and so far, so good! I rely on a stack of blank cards and a supply of stamps at work, plus an automatic reminder from my PDA, but I do it every Wednesday! It’s been fun to mix in vacation post cards and things like Mother’s Day cards, too. She wrote back one time and included $60 worth of stamps!

The last hand-written, snail mail letter I sent was a thank-you card for a wedding gift received over a year after the wedding, but only because our friend was living in South Africa at the time! I was so surprised and humbled that she still sent us a gift. I used these super cute notecards I got in the One Spot at Target. They have the best stuff. Not quite as cute as the ones y’all are offering though! :)

I write hand-written notes and use snail mail all the time! My husband is deployed overseas, and I send him and his troops care packages regularly. They love getting mail and really appreciate the thought that goes into each care package.

I send handmade (by me)cards often–at least once per week. Sometimes for a birthday (3 words on facebook doesn’t really do it justice, does it?), to thank friends for having us for dinner or to thank friends for coming to dinner. People love it!

I am CONSTANTLY running out of stationary and thank you cards b/c I send written notes by snail mail all the time. I love to get mail, so I figure others feel the same way too. The last letter I wrote was last week, to my Mom actually, thanking her for being such a wonderful grandmother to my children and a wonderful mother to me.

Last week I did send my best friend a belated birthday package with an assortment of goodies from my vacation to Thailand, with a hand-written card from Thailand of course! She loved it and it reminded me to do that kind of thing more often.

The last letter I received in the mail was from my fiance’. I was out of town for work, and the previous week had been the anniversary of our first date. We had gone to dinner over the weekend and exchanged cards, like anyone would do. However, at my hotel I received a letter from him describing in full detail how much the previous year had evolved him as a person and what our relationship had meant to him. It was an incredibly wonderful surprise, and I still cry thinking about it. That letter is folded up and resides, permanently, in my wallet.

The last letter I wrote was to my sister. It is her birthday on Wednesday. She is always so amazing about birthdays and gives the most thoughtful gifts. I recently moved across the country and am fairly broke and frazzled. Since my life has been so crazy a letter was all I could get together in time. I tried to express to her just how important she is to me. Hopefully it will be an okay placeholder until I can think of something perfect to get/make her.

Our wedding was almost 3 months ago, so we’ve been living in the land of the thank you note. I’m sure this would have gone alot faster if I didn’t believe I should actually write a note to the person instead of just saying, “thank you for the glasses”. I love getting mail, and I love paper so I tend to send alot of notes….although the best part is getting one back! :)
