Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

The last handwritten letter I wrote was to my husband’s grandmother. She is 93 and lives in Florida, and I’ve never had the chance to meet her in person. But I send her pictures and letters. :)

I make sure to always send holiday, birthday, anniversary, and thank you cards. Given that it’s such a dying trend in the digital age, it seems people are that much more touched when they receive a card via snail mail. After all, it brightens up that otherwise boring mail pile full of bills!

I send out handwritten updates of what our kiddo is upto to all our family every three months with a picture or two. It takes a couple lunch hours to complete and brings such happiness to those on the receiving end that don’t see us often. I actually worked on his nine month updates today!

CUSTOMIZE ME! I’m drooling over the adorable carved tree set! So romantic & sweet!

My husband is deployed to Iraq and the last handwritten letter I wrote was to him. Whenever I am feeling completely frazzled, sad, or mushy I like to write a sentimental love letter telling my hubs how much I miss him. He’s my best friend, so naturally we’re always missing each other. We’ve kept the cards & letters over the years and deployments & love to reflect on them now and again!

Like most everyone else that has commented, the last time I wrote anything by hand was a wedding related thank you note. Kind of a bummer actually because as a teenager, I had a fantastic pen pal and used to write letters obsessively. I still have that pen pal but somehow things are quite the same digitally….

i recently wrote a letter to my grandparents. i find that i don’t always have the time to devote to an hour-long phone call, but i can always seem to squeeze in a few minutes to jot down a short note to my grandparents. i try to write them every 2 months or so. when i do find the time to call, they always tell me how much they appreciate my little notes. it makes me feel good to know that those few minutes i’m spending are giving them such pleasure. it proves that the thought definitely counts!

Unfortunately, I am not so original. The last hand-written notes I mailed out were also thank you notes. The last actual “letter” was probably from my days as a summer camp counselor. I’m pretty sure I used notebook paper. Personalized stationery would be a huge step up!

Four lovely ladies in my hometown are throwing me a bridal shower this weekend, so the last handwritten notes I wrote were thank you cards to go with their hostess gifts. Carved trees and birds are a recurring graphic element at my wedding, so these notes would be a great way to bring that into our thank you cards as well!

CUSTOMIZE ME! Love, love, love it!

The last time I sent a handwritten note was a “thank you” note at the beginning of the summer. A former professor of mine invited my boyfriend and I down to her Hamptons home for the weekend. We had an amazing time sipping Mojitos, playing Scrabble on the beach, and dinning on lobster by candlelight. As soon as I returned to the city I immediately pulled out my customize stationary (usually reserved for job interviews) and wrote a long and gracious note, thanking her for her generous hospitality. A few days later I received an email from her telling me what a pleasure it was to receive handwritten mail, and that it was obvious that I was well brought up.

I think a handwritten note just shows that you took extra care to say “thank you”, and it’s so fun to get mail! Who doesn’t love a gracious letter telling you that you are appreciated?
