Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

the last handwritten notes that I sent were thank you’s from last year when my husband and I got married…I never finished writing all of them though, so I am sure I have some angry friends and family!

The last time I wrote a handwritten note was just last week! We just finished sending out our thank you notes for our wedding! Before that it was letters for friends. I love receiving hand written notes and try to write them as often as possible to spread that lovely feeling to others!

“CUSTOMIZE ME” Probably the last truly handwritten thing I sent were my wedding thank you cards, 3 years ago. But I do send quite a few cards throughout the year and always write an additional note inside the card for a personal touch.

I actually send handwritten notes all the time. I am in real estate sales (new homes) so every time a prospect comes in they will receive a handwritten note. Besides that, I had sent my best friend’s parents a card last week with several pictures from our wedding and the two of us. Her mom called me immediately to thank me for sending all the pictures and the sweet card.

The last handwritten letter I received was from my husband in Iraq in 2005. (He was then my bf) The one that meant the most was when he wrote two pages telling me ALL the reasons he loved me. That is when I knew for sure we would spend the rest of our live together!!!

There’s an 80+ year old woman, Dot, from my hometown that has known me nearly all my life and always sent the sweetest cards and notes throughout my childhood. As an adult, I’ve returned the favor and continued to keep in touch with her via snail mail. I just sent her a handwritten note last week congratulating her on her grand-daughter’s wedding and to tell her that my husband and I are hunting for our first house. While I’m now living 2000+ miles away and this ritual could have very easily gotten lost in the crazy pace of day to day life, I’ve continued to foster our relationship as pen pals and I love coming home to a note in the mailbox from her!

And for the bonus question: I still write a letter each week to my best friend. We met in 1997 and our parents weren’t keen on the long distance bills we would ring up, so we would write each other a letter each week! We each have about 6 cigar boxes full of letters over the past 13 years! So…super long comment, but I would LOVE to win those gorgeous cards!

I have been sending lots of thank yous for gifts for our son, who is now almost two. I always try to snap a picture of him with the gift to paste on to the cover of a plane paper card then write a cute note on the inside. I think the pictures add a special touch for the gift givers, in addition to the hand written notes.

A family member just got married and while I wasn’t invited to the wedding I still wanted to send a note that said I was happy for them. I had a small wedding myself and couldn’t invite most family members. So, I wanted to make sure they knew I wouldn’t be holding on to missing out on their wedding, as so many people do.

So interesting that I would come across this blog today! It’s a rainy night and on my way home from work I was saying it seemed like the perfect night to curl up with some tea and light some candles and catch up on writing to people. I have a set of embossed stationary and I try to write at least a letter a week so I will always be in touch with the people that matter to me. But as a new YHL reader, of course I had to check in here first to get into the right mood!

I write handwritten notes quite often since I’m still “snail mail” penpals with my 85-year-old grandma. She loves getting the letters (even though she’s email savvy as well) and it’s fun for me to get real mail every once in a while, too! I also fully believe in the power of the thank-you note and handwritten birthday, anniversary, or just plain old “thinking of you” cards. I keep Hallmark in business!

The last letter I wrote was last week. It was an apology for our restaurant’s a/c going out the day of an event. It was almost as if they thought I did it on purpose. Hopefully, I did enough to smooth things over with this very important client. Who doesn’t love free wine, gift certificates, and good old fashioned kissing ass? This post reminded me I have about 20 letters to send out tomorrow.

My best friend is in Africa for the Peace Corps, so our only form of communication is via snail mail! So we are now long distance pen pals and I am relearning the art of letter writing (though to be honest, it takes me so long to hand write things now and my handwriting is so bad that I am thinking of switching to typing up my letters so she can have a lengthier thing to read!).
