Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    CUSTOMIZE ME!

The last time I sent a handwritten letter was to my boyfriend this past Valentine’s Day. I handmade the card and put a picture of myself when I was a little girl on the front. The picture is of me sitting on the porch of my house, wearing a little blue and white striped dress, with my hands together and placed on one side of my cheek, and my head tilted. Like I had puppy love! Inside I wrote about when we first met, which was at band camp (isn’t that cute and dorky?!) when we were 13, and how much he’s inspired my life. He’s usually not a mushy person, but he loved it so much and keeps it in the drawer of his bedside table.

The card with the carved initials made me think of this. All the cards are adorable and would make great gifts!

CUSTOMIZE ME! I just got married 6 months ago, so I had the pleasure of completing over 100 thank yous by hand! I also received so many hand-written gift notes at showers and the wedding, I decided that’s the best way to go. I just went to a bridal shower last Saturday and gave the bride-to-be a handwritten note with my gift. She so appreciated it, and it gave me opportunity to use the stationery gifted to me from the wedding events.

I just sent a card to a good friend in Italy the other day. For some reason I just really wanted to send snail mail across the world – plus the letter was more than just “Hi, How’s it going?”, so I wanted it to be special.

When my fiance and I were dating long distance we used to write letters to eachother. It was like it’s own conversation about our lives and how we missed eachother, completely different from anything we talked about over the phone. Those are my favorite keepsakes from our relationship.

The last handwritten note I sent was in a card to a best friend. It was my best friends 27th birthday and she lives out of town. But I do get a lot of letters and cards from my grandparents, for every holiday I am sure that there will be a letter/card in the mail!

Any time I have a friend move away I always give them stationary as a going away gift. I’ve gotten many wonderful letters from them, saying they feel guilty not writing since I gave them stationary. Hahahaha My evil plan works! I love getting and sending letters. They are just different from emails. More personal!

Thanks for sharing all you do with us!!!!

I’ve been really big on sending handwritten notes lately- I try to do it for everyone- birthdays, clients, etc. I just think it’s something that makes you stand out from the crowd and it takes about 3 minutes and what? 41? 42 cents?

“CUSTOMIZE ME” and the last handwritten letters I sent were to my husband’s neices and nephew in South Africa. They are ages 7-17 and I found the coolest stationery at this lovely shop http://www.paper-ya.com in Vancouver when we were on holiday there last December. We think they’ll love the surprise of letters in the mail!.

The last ‘thank you’ note I mailed (two weeks ago), was thanking the Burn Institute allowing me to design their Camp Beyond the Scars yearbook. It’s a camp for kids who are burn survivors, and they meet once a year for a week for camp. The yearbook has their photos of their experience at the camp. This was a volunteer project, and I thanked them for letting me be of service.

I received fun little surprises from my aunt in the mail when I was in college. She called it ‘tickling the post office.’ She would mail me a letter in a soapbox or a candybar with a stamp on it. In return I sent her a letter written on a strip of paper and wound into a film canister and a coke bottle. We had tons of fun and it was amazing to see what you could send. (Sometimes I had to reassure the person on duty in the mail room that my coke bottle would indeed make it through, I just needed to figure out how to put a stamp on it. . . )

The last handwritten note I recieved was actually yesterday. It was a thank you post card from a bride and groom whose wedding we attended at the end of July. Although “thank yous” seem to be one of the most popular handwritten notes sent, it’s still really nice to recieve one on a day when all you expected to get in the mail was junk-ie flyers.

If it’s not too much trouble…CUSTOMIZE ME! Ok, this is somewhat embarrassing but… my husband and I sometimes write letters to each other when there is too much anger or frustration in the situation to talk. We do this to avoid a big fight, as we are both …”passionate” people! :) This allows us to think about what we say before we say it, and to get everything out that needs to be said. It also helps to avoid bottling emotions… we find that it works for us even though it seems a little juvenile.
