Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

CUSTOMIZE ME! It seems like I only get handwritten thank you cards after I give wedding gifts. I’d like to get more handwritten cards, though– so maybe I’ll start the trend and just send something out for no reason other than “thinking of you.” Here’s to hoping I win!!

Isn’t it terrible? I can’t even remember the last hand-written letter I sent. Probably when I was dating a guy in college who was in the military. Man, that’s sad.

Customize Me! My grandma used to send tons of hand written notes, and it was one of the traits that most people remember about her. I would love to be as good as her in terms of writing more often, and this post has reminded me of that goal. Thanks!

I haven’t sent any handwritten things recently, but I did have penpals when I was a kid. We met at girlscout camp, and although we only lived a few towns away, we would correspond by letter. We used to try and outdo ourselves with decorating the pages and the envelopes with stamps and art – why send a boring white envelope when you can send one with a hand-drawn flower garden on it!

The last letter I wrote was to my 7 year old sister-in-law. I’m pregnant, and she asked that I send her a letter with a picture that shows how big my “bump” is. I talked to her on the phone after she received it, and she told me that she loved the letter, but doesn’t feel like writing back. It made me laugh!

We recently(1 month ago) got married and before hand my fiance and I wrote each other “love letters” once a month, every month for the duration of our engagement, so now I have 12 of the most lovely hand written love letters. We lived together and we would send them to one another at work. It was so sweet to get these little notes at work.

    Thanks!

The last letter I wrote was to my best friend, for her birthday last week. I need to write more, but in the days of Facebook and Twitter, I already feel very connected to friends. Using stationery like this to write short notes would be a great way to keep in touch without having to write a novel! :)

I love hand written cards and notes and try and send them often. Last week was the last time I sent one. A dear friend of mine lives a plane ride away and recently had a birthday. I sent her a “birthday in a box” with notes attached to each item, explaining what to do (A good book to get lost in, scone mix to go with your favorite tea, a plastic tiara so you can been queen for the day…etc.). She loved it and yesterday I received a hand written thank you :)

    CUTOMIZE ME!!!

I always write hand written thank you notes! The last one I wrote was to a good friend of our family who let us stay at their beach house vacation rental for a week for free. They usually rent it out for $2000 a week. To thank them I included a bottle of Baileys Irish Cream because the husband loves to make Baileys Chocolate Milk Shakes for dessert, and made us several during our stay. DELICIOUS!!!

Love these little notcards! I’m really digging the carved tree set.

I actually just sent a little not to a very old family friend. I just saw her at a bridal shower for my cousin last week, and we had the best time chatting. Lucy Lee is 84, and sadly, my grandmother’s only living friend left, but we still keep in touch even though my grandmother left us in 2005. I know, didn’t mean to be a downer.
A few days after the shower, I received a little package from Lucy Lee. She sent me a copy of her church cookbook, complete with some of her own recipes, because most of our conversation centered around food and she knew how much I love being in the kitchen. I sent her a hand-written thank you note back straight away!

One of my best friends of 15 years and I somehow just realized we’re perfect for each other (well, he knew all along – it took me awhile to get it). We’re currently living far apart and have been emailing and video chatting like crazy, but I took the time to hand-write my feelings in a letter to send to him as well. Even though he’d already heard me say it, there’s something about taking quiet time to hand write your feelings that felt extra meaningful to me – more permanent, somehow.

CUSTOMIZE ME! I find that handwritten cards are so much more personal. Last week I sent a home-made card to my sister for her birthday, one to my other sister for her wedding anniversary, and one to a friend whose mother passed away. I think handwritten cards are better than an email if for no other reason than that I can trace my little son’s hand on it to make it be from him too (:
