Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

There’s nothing like opening up the mailbox and finding a handwritten letter. I work weekly to do my best to save the art of handwritten cards. These are amazing!

The last written letter I received was from my husband’s cousin while he was at Army training before he was deployed. It was great to hear him so positive and excited about what he was learning and doing. And to get his letter on official government-issued stationary was even better!

The last time i wrote hand written cards was about 6 months ago when i had to write over 100 “thank yous” to friends and family for wedding gifts. And that was just my side! i made my husband write all the notes to his side. Its been hard to pick up a pen ever since…my hand start to cramp just thinking about writting another card. But hopefully if i win, these cards will give me new inspiration!!

This custom is alive and well in our home. I love beautiful stationary and the sentiments that can be communicated with it.

One of the last handwritten notes I sent was yesterday, a thank you note to my Aunt for an AMAZING piece of pottery she gave me for my birthday (belated). We were out recently and I fell for this piece and she surprised me with it at dinner. I love it when birthdays last all year!

CUSTOMIZE ME! I want to use my new home office and desk (that I don’t have to share with my hubby any more!) to start sending more cards via snail mail, so this would be perfect! I’d pick the carved tree or the stump. Probably the stump.

I recently included a hand-written note with a care package (sent jointly with two other friends) to a friend who just went through a break-up with her first serious relationship since college. I know the hand-written notes made her feel better, and I’m sure the cookies, chocolate, and books didn’t hurt either!

CUSTOMIZE ME: My first love has always been writing. There really is something special about sending and receiving letters in the mail. A letter resonates in our hearts as a tangible reminder of something or someone close to us; Something a text or email cannot achieve. I stock up on stationary that stikes a chord and save it for special occassions. I love sending cards to let people know how grateful I am for their presence in my life, and do so often. I also love receiving letters from close friends who are far away. I also save all the letters my husband has sent to me over the years. I like looking back at them and seeing how are relationship has developed.

The last significant letter I sent was to my husband last year on our wedding day. We had been dating for six years and tying the knot. Our circumstnaces were unique and not very traditional. We had gone through many trials in our relationship which made our wedding day that much more special. My husband and I wrote our vows, which had everyone crying and laughing all at once. We are approaching our first anniversary in a month, and I decided that I will be framing our vows as a reminder of what our marriage means to us. I thought it would be appropriate since the first year anniversary gift is paper.

    “CUSTOMIZE ME”

We recently sent out niece’s 5th birthday presents to her via UPS since we weren’t able to attend her party. Yesterday we received a thank you note from her (written by her mother, of course), however on this thank you note she showed us how big she is getting by writing her name by herself at the bottom of the note! It was so special to us to get that from her! Sure the first letter of her name was in lower case and the rest of the letters capitalized, but that is what makes it so special!

I wrote to tell her Id gotten married because in her last letter she wrote me the same thing! It was really fun and exciting to hear from her and to write back about the same thing!
