Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Customise me!

I try to write thank you cards all the time and have even set up a little station at home where I can sit down and write. The last letter I received is from my BF, she just wanted to say she loved me very much. Aww!

The last hand written card I received was from my mom. It had a cute little girl on the front who looked like me as a child. It also said “Born to be Fabulous,” which is pretty much awesome.

These would make me want to write EVERYONE I know a handwritten note!

I have my own photography business on the side, and after I’m done editing each shoots pictures – I try to include with the CD a handwritten note thanking each client for their business and telling them something specific I enjoyed about them/the shoot. It’s gotten so many wonderful responses!

I know I can’t win because I live in Canada … but I was just thinking about letter writing the other day. When my grandmother passed away, we found notes she had saved from my grandfather. I was very touching and romantic.
Think about that beautiful letter Sulivan Ballou sent his wife during the Civil War
“But, O Sarah! If the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they loved, I shall always be near you; in the gladdest days and in the darkest nights . . . always, always, and if there be a soft breeze upon your cheek, it shall be my breath, as the cool air fans your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by. Sarah do not mourn me dead; think I am gone and wait for thee, for we shall meet again.”
Think you would ever get that in an e-mail!!!

CUSTOMIZE ME and… One of the last handwritten letters I sent was to my grandmother. I always write cards and letters because I definitely feel the same as you, it’s “a dying custom in the digital age”. The letter to my grandmother was to thank her for always being there for me and loving me unconditionally. She’s a wonderful woman and I don’t tell her often enough how much she means to me. You’d be amazed how much that letter meant to her!

My cousin who used to live in Las Vegas and now lives in Alaska told me about 15 years ago she loves getting letters. Now, even in the age of email, I still prefer sending her a card or letter over an email. I don’t see her often and sending letters just seems that much more personal.

I must admit I usually e-mail or even type letters, print and then send. However, I am a Children’s Minister at my church and do write handwritten thank you and appreciation cards to my teachers and helpers. I also sometimes send little notes to one of the children just to make them feel special. These customized cards be perfect for that? If I don’t win I’m going to have to buy some. BTW – love your blog site.

Not a recent example, but when I was younger, my best friend moved to Atlanta. Since this was long before the days of the internet, we would write back and forth on the most fun and creative stationery we could find. We are still in touch (moreso thanks to facebook!) and have realized we both still collect cute and unique stationery to this day. This would be a great addition to my collection, and she would likely be the first person I write to on my new stationery :)

Last year for my birthday one of my aunts sent me a handwritten letter which also contained a handwritten letter my mom wrote to my aunt the week before my birth. In that letter, my mom writes about how she can’t wait for the baby to arrive and that she hoped it was a girl (I have two older brothers). She was talking about me 42 years ago! I will forever treasure that gift my aunt gave me. Letters are priceless! Thanks for the reminder!
