Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I am loving the Carved Tree set. My fiance and I are getting married AND buying a home in October (3 days later!) and this set I think personifies our new love and life together.

I always appreciate a lovely hand written thank-you card, and sending them as well.

Customize Me! I am planning a “Harvest Party” get together at my house at the end of September with good friends, and chose to send out snail mail invitations instead of the usual “Evite” just because it’s more fun to get a pretty little invite in the mail box instead of your email!

I wrote a note 2 weeks ago to my sister-in-law who I owed big thanks to…. both for hosting me, my daughter, and the other girls in the fam for a girls weekend at her cabin and because she took my call on a random Friday when I was freaking out and needed her legal advice. She is the best lawyer I know (and being a lawyer myself and the daughter of a lawyer…. I think that is saying something).

I sent a letter a few weeks ago to a dear friend. Letters are just so much more personal and significant than e-mail. You hold them in your hands, you can smell them, you can see a part of the person left on the paper… handwriting, no matter how clumsy, is always beatiful.

My daughter was married last week. (amazing wedding!) and we stayed up in the wee hours of the morning hand writing “Welcome To Our Wedding Weekend” notes to tuck inside of the Welcome Baskets we made for out of town guests. What an honor to say “Thank You” to so many people who made the long trip to Dallas Texas for her wedding. The memory of writing the notes and laughing at 2:00 am was just an added bonus!

I totally remember the last letter I sent: it was to my Mom for Mother’s Day :):) I was tired of emails and electronic updates: it was time for the REAL DEAL! I sat and composed a real letter (on plain paper cuz I couldn’t even FIND my stationary, lol) and sent it to her. It was funny that once she received it, she called me right away to thank me. She doesn’t do that too often – how about them apples? Send someone a real letter and see the response you will get. Now – I REALLY nned to find my stationary box….later!!!

Upon leaving a job I recently wrote two letters to thank the people who had worked so hard to train me. I wanted to let them know that even though I was moving on from the company that I truly appreciated their hard work and had learned a lot from their expertise.

Lovely stationery is a fantastic motivator to revive the lost art of letter writing!

The last hand written letter I received was from my then-boyfriend (my now-husband) describing how he loves me. He describes how he’s been waiting for me since we last dated and that it has always been me he was looking for and it will always be me. That I am the answer to his questions, my voice is the reason he wakes up and that he sleeps just to dream about me. He says that I complete him and he wants to love me forever and ever. He’s such a romantic man, I am a blessed woman.

He wrote me a few letters in high school and I have kept each one. There’s something old school and romantic about writing each other letters.
