Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I wrote a hand-written note TODAY! It was to my boyfriend’s 97-year-old Grandma just to say hi, and to let her know we’re thinking about her. It was, coincidentally, on customized stationary! When we moved into our 90-year-old house, the previous owners left us a box of note cards with an illustration of our house on the front, and with our address on the back of all of the envelopes. I’m guessing they had possibly been left by the owners before them, and we’ll leave the ones we don’t use for the next owners when we move! :)

The last letter I rec’d was a thank you letter from my mother-in-law for a sweet lil surprise I had sent her. Other than handwriting cards, I don’t remember the last letter I wrote…probably some silly, falling for you letter to my husband…

When I was a freshnman in college, nearly 14 years ago now (wow!), I loved getting handwritten letters. My mom, my grandma, and some of my friends from other schools filled my mailbox regularly, and I loved that I could tell who it was from by the handwriting alone.

    I love receiving handwritten letters!

I sent a handwritten letter last week to a dear friend who lost her mother. I had the priviledge of also having her in my life, although just for two short years. I wrote about all my favorite memories of and with her. I came to care about her deeply and miss her very much.

Anytime we stay in friends’ or family’s houses, I break out the monogrammed Crane’s as soon as we get back home. There’s something about someone opening their guest room that reminds me what it is to be a Southern lady and a good little wife.

Speaking of, one of my favorite wedding gifts was our custom, handmade guestbook that stays in our guest room to be signed. It was made by my college roommate–an AMAZING graphic designer. She’d already gone out of her way to design our perfect wedding invitations, and this is wonderful reminder of that design. How wonderful, too, to relive great visits by reading our guests’ notes.

Two weeks ago I wrote a letter to my husband, along with a vintage romantic postcard, and stuck it in his carryon to read on the plane on his way to Iraq. He called me from Germany and thanked me for the sweet surprise, and I am so glad he appreciated it. I plan on sending him MANY letters through snail mail during the course of this deployment and would love some of that sweet stationary!

The last handwritten letter I wrote was in a birthday card to my best friend Kelly. I have boxes of her letters from when we were growing up – pre-email we used to send each other letters almost daily. The last letter I received was from Kelly, in a wonderful surprise care package sent to my office, and that brought me to tears of happiness :)

I just sent a handwritten letter to my daughter who lives 2500 miles away. It was sent with a photo book I created on a vacation we had last winter. These handwritten letters have personality and become important and a part of who we are. My penmanship has become horrible with the advent of the computer!

I sent a letter to my hubby from my 2 year old when we were on vacation and wouldn’t see him for two more weeks. She had painted on some paper and I wrote the letter between the colors. I plan to send handwritten notes this week to a few people I wasn’t able to visit when I was on vacation. I’m hoping the handwritten-ness will make up for not seeing them in person, at least a little bit.

I regularly write not only thank you cards but other notes, letters and I love to send post cards too. My last letter sent was inside a card. I sent one to each my father, mother and brother with a special note for each about why they are so special to me.

My husband and I live on financial support of friends and family and those interested in our helping others…a faithful woman supporters of 9 years said good-bye to her husband in July. She cared for him the last 15 yrs or so as he was a paraplegic in the end, but would giggle and love on him unconditionally in the needy state he was in (even flirting like she was 16 again), as an 80-something yr old! I have committed to writing her weekly about what is going on in our lives. She doesn’t have any technological access or real interests, and it’s a great way for us to encourage her in the grief and love her in a tough time. And I find it therapeutic to sit and write her a card about simple events of our days.

Would love the cards to share with her!
