Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I recently included a note to my mother-in-law with some pictures of my husband/her son in a performance. I’m embarrased to report that I wrote the note on a tacky yellow post-it, I love personalized stationary though and would really enjoy this truly fab freebie!!

I can’t remember the last handwritten letter I’ve written, but I do remember all the letters that I used to exchange with my best friend when I was young. She moved away when I was 8 years old, and we regularly wrote each other over the years…she’s still one of my closest friends to this day! Our favorite letters every year were the ones we would write after our first day of school–we would walk each other through each class and describe everything. They were great!

I recently wrote a million thank you’s for my wedding and to my family members and bridal party. My girls got cute little cards with catchy Jane Austen quotes (I’m not only a stationary freak but book worm too).

The last time I sent out mail was just last week- a thank you card to my neighbor! Sure, she lives 2 houses down and I could have put it in her mail box, but it’s much more fun to stick a stamp on it and do it right! I would really like to send out the carved tree stationary to special friends and family in our life.

Hi! The most recent handwritten note that I received came from my husband. He recently left for a business trip and last night when I went to bed I discovered a handwritten note about all the reasons he would miss me while he is gone. He travels on a weekly basis so this thought was especially sweet.

I would love for you to “CUSTOMIZE ME!” LOL

The last handwritten letter I wrote was very memorable to me…I had to write to my 23 year old daughter who was graduating from The Marines basic training & tell her I couldn’t make it to the graduation. Due to losing a job, my insurance, bank account, & car there was just no way I could travel from Wisconsin to South Carolina. I tried just about everything I could, even joined wishuponahero.com…but in the end I wasn’t able to make it. I will never forget having to write that to my daughter on such a special day!
    Thanks,
    ~Eve

I love handwriting notes. It gives me a chance to add a true personal touch to the person I am giving the note to. It also gives me an opportunity to make some art! For our recent 1 year anniversary, I made my husband a card entirely out of paper products that were leftover from our various wedding projects.

I love the stationary you are giving away. It’s beautiful!

I have to say I love writing (and of course receiving) handwritten notes. I love technology, but there is nothing like a handwritten anything. A couple of years ago, I gave my mom a journal that we mail back and forth to each other (she lives hundreds of miles away from me) with deeper thoughts that don’t always make it on a phone call. It allows us to have all levels of our relationship even though we live far from each other now.

The last handwritten letter I received was from my fiance’s grandmother. She had recently visited us and wrote us a thank you letter. However, between her visit and our receipt of the letter, my fiance’s dear Meme passed away. We actually received the letter when we were back in Illinois for her funeral. My mother was housesitting for us and read us the letter over the phone. It was funny and touching and poignant. I’m so blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with her before she passed on. I would love to use this stationery as thank you notes for our upcoming wedding in September.

I realize that the written word is a past artform… but not for me. I write handwritten notes weekly to friends, family, and clients… and am teaching my boys (10 and 7) to do the same. It shows thought and time… something that is TRULY lacking these days?!

PS- love the site!! Just stumbled upon it and am glad to be here!!!

    “CUSTOMIZE ME”

I travel a lot (my family lives overseas, I spend the summers kind of all over the place), and everytime I leave my fiance it seems LONGER. Whenever I go, I try to always write a card and stick it in the mailbox so he’ll get something while I’m gone. He tries to act fierce and tough, but I’ve noticed he keeps them all in a stack on his desk. :) Nothing like a handwritten note.

As a bonus, something my mom has passed down to my brothers and I (from her mom actually) is that whenever we visit family and then leave, we hide little notes around for them to find over time. My grandparents love that. :) My mom did it for all of us when we moved into dorm rooms, and hers did it for her in her first apartment. It’s become a sweet little family tradition. Not mail, but still, notes are nice.

The last hand written letter I recieved was from my now husband while we were dating on different coasts :) We met online in Jan. 2005 while he lived in the Seattle area and I was here in New York. We dated long distance for 6 months before he moved out here and we got engaged. Over those six months is when I recieved those sweet letters. We were married in September 2006, welcomed our first son in April 2008 and are anticipating the arrival of baby boy #2 this November!

CUSTOMIZE ME! I love personalized stationery! My sister works at a stationery store and I get excited when I get some customized note cards from her as a gift. My parents taught me to always write thank you notes when you receive a gift and I do that regularly with my personalized notes. I also send a thank you note if someone has us over for dinner. One of my pet peeves is when I receive a pre-printed Christmas card from a close friend with NO note inside. I have my Christmas cards printed but I make sure to write something on the inside. I can always use more notes to refresh my stash!!

The past 14 months were pretty awful due to a complication during my daughter’s birth. She ended up in the hospital for months. She’s doing so well now, and despite the terrible year I can still look at the avalanche of beautiful hand-written notes that our friends and family sent to keep us afloat. Even now a week hardly goes by without a note or package in the mail for us! We feel so lucky and blessed to have such amazing supporters, and my baby has boxes of hand-written memories from them all!

The last two hand-written letters I wrote were to my best friend in high school and best friend in college. They share the same birthday, and I’ve lost touch with both. One was a gradual falling out and the other was heart-wrenching. I sent them both birthday cards, in hopes that they each had a great day. The hidden message that I hope they both read into was that I miss them terribly. I think my invisible ink is working a little too well, though… :/
