Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I love stationery so I try and find any excuse to send it — get well cards, sympathy cards, birthday cards, thank you cards, you name it. I’m particularly partial to letterpress (love the texture).

Last month I mailed my boyfriend a cute little notecard and wrote in the card one of my favorite quotes: “If you live to be one hundred, I want to live to be one hundred minus one day so I’ll never have to live without you.” -Winnie the Pooh
He keeps it on his nightstand and loves that I spent the time to mail a letter to him!!

About once a week we receive a handwritten card from my grandmother. Sometimes it has a check in it as well, but they are always the most adorable and unique cards. Last week we got one with a boy and girl cat that says “purrfect couple”. So Grandma!

    CUSTOMIZE ME—pretty please. :)

I just got a hand written letter this morning from my husband. yay. :) We have a leather bound journal that I got him one year for Valentine’s. We write letters back & forth to each other in it. I love looking back over our letters from previous years. I think it will be such a great legacy to leave to our children. Plus, it saves on cards b/c we always write a letter in it for holidays instead of trying to find a card in a store (and usually not finding anything that isn’t too cheesy).

I can’t remember the last time I sent a letter. I know I put a note in with a care package I sent, but that’s about it. My mom is really good about sending cards with long notes in them. She’s had a lot of fun this year buying “daughter and son-in-law” cards since I got married in the last year.

I was an exchange student in Munich, Germany in High School and I keep in touch with my former host family via snail mail. It seems more special than email. Most recently I received a birthday card from my sister there. Although she was an exchange student in the States while I was there, we have gotten to know each other through the years and my visits.

One of the most meaningful letters I received recently was from a student that I had last year. She brought it to me at our school Open House, and it was such an affirming way to start off the year! Telling someone how much they mean to you is important, and it’s amazing how much more powerful it can be when you put it in writing.

my fiance and i just got engaged in July. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas and he lives in Sydney, Australia!! we’ve been doing this “long distance” thing for nearly 2 1/2 years now and i send him letters about 1 every 2 or three weeks. I usually try to make my own so it can have that extra personal touch and put a smile on his face :) he is however moving here in a year (trying to save up for the big move!) and i only get to see him about 2 times a year for maybe 2-3 months at a time. Anyways, i thought these would be the perfect personalized letter set to send to him, i know he would love it. :)

The last time I sent out hand-written correspondence was this morning, actually. I bought my dad’s old KIA and I’ve been sending him payments. I mailed the last one today(yay!). Since it’s my dad and not a bill-collector, I always write a quick note or a letter to pop in with the check; don’t want it to feel so business-y. And I love writing letters any excuse I get.

As a youngster, I was enamored by my oldest sister’s handwriting. So loopy and feminine, it inspired me to begin to focus on creating my own style of writing. Of course, this meant I had to come up with things to write! So I’d make up stories, I started to journal and eventually, I became so fascinated by it, I looked for excuses to send cards and letters to family and friends. For one of my recent birthdays, I left a note for all my work friends outlining why I love them. It was attached to a bouquet of mini roses they found when they came in to the office. A few months ago, one of those friends had a stroke and has may not ever fully recover her mental capacity. I’m so happy I shared my heart with her. I also make a habit of leaving little notes behind each time I stay at someone’s house – sometimes with quotes, others my own words of gratitude. And most recently, my Grandpa was diagnosed with throat cancer right before I was to leave for an Alaskan cruise. Because I couldn’t be with him, I sent him postcards from every port. Now, his treatment has weakened him enough that it is hard for him to take phone calls, which was key way I had been able to cheer him up. So I send him a weekly card. On the more rare occasion that we do get to talk, he is sure to tell me how much he appreciates the sunshine they bring. And, of course, he always loves my handwriting.
