Fab Freebie: Hi, My Name Is…

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.

Custom Station Tree

Custom Station Birds

Custom Station Stump

We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.

Custom Station Petersiks

Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:

  • PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

For every gift or nice gesture received (like dinner at a friend’s house), I always send a hand-written thank you note. My in-laws refuse to accept a thank you note from me because “we are family”. I send them anyways!!!!

    CUSTOMIZE MEEEE!!!!

    I, too, am a regular snail-mailer.

In college, my best friends and I would write notes to each other all the time, even just quick little ones on post-its.

My husband (whom I met while at college!) and I had a long-distance relationship for most of our courtship so we got very good at letter writing.

I got into paper crafting when I was pregnant with my son ten years ago and have been a devoted card maker ever since.

My most recent snail mail was “to” me! One of those college friends is now my “cousin-in-law” and she is so good about keeping in touch. She sent me a sweet card “just because.”

There’s nothing like the written word. Email is convenient but it just doesn’t compare; it’s apples and oranges.

Customize ME!! My grandmother, who is my hero has alzheimers and vision problems so sending emails is just not an option. I try to send her personalized cards with my name on the front (as a reminder) and always a picture so she can put the two together. Sometimes I just tell her that I love her and miss her and it makes her day.

I love snail mail- I probably send at least four letters a week. My sister and I write letters back and forth in a Moleskine cachier journal. I love opening up my school mailbox to see the familiar journal (we call it “Embers and Envelopes”) every two weeks or so! : )

Over the past few years, I have been writing letters back and forth with a friend from another state. We grew up together since we were born and lost touch when I went away to college and subsequently moved and got married. One day I decided to write her a note in the mail. She wrote a few-page letter in return, and our tradition began! We refuse to email or post on each other’s facebook, and keep our interaction strictly to pen and paper. It’s been a special tradition, since no one writes handwritten letters anymore! It makes me still excited to look in the mailbox. :)

I also sent her some pictures of my new house and her old kitchen table that we re-did. She didn’t even recognize the table!! I love getting letters in the mail so I enjoy sending them as well.
