Fab Freebie: Got A Light?

We love giving away lamps, what can we say. So if you didn’t come out on top last week, here’s another shot at taking home a stylish piece of lighting for your home.

This week’s prize comes from The Shade Shop & Lighting Gallery located in nearby Charlottesville, Virginia. They offer a diverse and ever-changing gallery of table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, sconces, tables and (of course) lamp shades.  In fact, they’re brimming with excitement over the new line of Bunny Williams lamps that just arrived. Plus, the Shade Shop offers custom lampwork and repair, meaning if you want something unique they can make it AND they can fix it if you happen to break it.

But hopefully you’ll have trouble breaking the antique-nickel-clad Lucy Accent Lamp (valued at $298) that they’ve put up for grabs this week. Check it out below:

To enter to win just comment on this post with the words “GIMME A LIGHT” by Wednesday, March 4th at 8pm EST. And since this prize hails from my alma mater’s hometown, we’d love to hear what you loved most about your college hometown. I could go on and on about Charlottesville- after all it was once named the #1 place to live in the US. And we could probably name quite a few things we love about Sherry’s college town (NYC) too, considering it’s where we met. This prize can be shipped to the lower 48 United States and as always, only one entry per e-mail address is allowed. Good luck…

    GIMME A LIGHT!!

We’ve been searching for a table lamp to place on the end table in our living room and this would be perfect!

My husband and I both graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA and we actually still live here. What I love most about it is all of the friends we’ve met. We know that even if we end up living hundreds of miles away from each other, we’ll always cherish the close friendships we’ve developed over the years and will do our best to keep in touch…although I do need to work on my correspondence! :P

Gimme a Light! Such a great lamp! :)

Oh, there was so much to love about my college town (and my home town; incidentally, they’re one in the same). From the “#1 Party School in America” ranking for several years, to the non-stop traffic from students, to the fact that they had to put armed officers around the goal posts at football games so crazy fans didn’t rip them out of the ground after a big win… good ol’ Morgantown, WV. Charming.

GIMME A LIGHT! Edwardsville, IL is my college hometown and where I spent an amazing 4 years. The quaint college town outside of STL had a small town feel with big city opportunities and the best friends a girl could ask for :) I wish it would have lasted longer than 4 short years!

GIMME A LIGHT!! What I loved most about my college town of Fairfax, VA, was that it was very close to Washington, DC, and there was still a lot to do there. Aaah…how I remember going out Wed-Friday and getting in at 8:30am one morning…those were the days back then!

GIMME A LIGHT!! I love this lamp!!!!

I went to a small Catholic college, Mt. St. Mary’s, in Emmitsburg, MD. It’s almost literally a one stop light town….in the beautiful Maryland, well..I was going to say mountains, but they are really more like Big Hills.

Anywho, it’s a very small town and there really isn’t much to do there.

    So —

In hindsight, I would have chosen a school in a much larger place with more opportunity for different experiences.

PS — I love both Charlottesville & NYC. I can’t even imagine going to college in NYC — that would be BANANAS!

I went to Baylor in Waco, Tx which is where the soda, Dr. Pepper was first created and distributed! Not the reason I went to school there, but still a fun fact regardless. It’s also where I met my husband :)

My favorite thing about my college town, Columbus, Ohio, is that for a non-religious girl like me, Saturdays at the Horseshoe watching TBDBITL (the best damn band in the land) march onto the field before a Buckeye game is still, all these years later, the closest I’ve ever come to a spiritual experience. Go Bucks!
