Fab Freebie: Gone Fishing

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our two lucky winners as selected by random.org are… Susie (who doesn’t like fish, despite her former employment at Red Lobster) and Sarah (who especially loves Maryland crab, shrimp, salmon, and freshly caught smoked trout). Congrats ladies!

Back when I lived in Brooklyn there was this cool dishware store down the street called Fishs Eddy that I loved. Last Christmas I even bought Sherry two coffee mugs from there. And now, in what can only be called a full circle moment, we’re teaming up with them for a giveaway for you guys. They’ve got tons of fun colorful patterns so we’ve put together three around-$50 prize packages of our favorites: the Food Bank pattern (which benefits the NYC Food Bank), the always-classic 212 New York Skyline pattern, and the playful Charley Harper pattern. So each of our TWO winners will get to pick their favorite collection and take it home.

Fishs Eddy Giveaway

  • PRIZE: One of the following sets of Fishs Eddy dishware: (1) Food Bank set including dishtowel, two mugs, and a set of four sauce dishes, (2) New York Skyline set including salt & pepper shakers, a charger, and a set of four 15oz glasses or (3) Charley Harper set including one fish mug, three fish sauce dishes, and a set of four sunset glasses
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FISH ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you stand on seafood? Have you never met a piece of salmon, fried shrimp, or crabcake you didn’t like? Or do you avoid fish like the plague (perhaps because it tastes “too fishy” or you’re a vegetarian)? Maybe you fall somewhere in the middle and only enjoy specific seafood dishes?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 5 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States & Canada (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fishs Eddy.

FISH ME!!! The only fish I ate growing up was fish sticks, so the closest I’ll come to fish now is shrimp! Everything else is too ‘fishy’ for me!

    FISH ME!!!

First off, I love seafood. Secondly, my boyfriend loves to fish (but he’s a catch and release fly fisher). Thirdly, we are both mad about the Charley Harper dish set at Fishes Eddy. Two Christmases ago, being a good boyfriend, he bought me a signed CH print that is framed in our living room. Now I’m coveting that dish set! Perfect dishes for cooking up some seafood!

FISH ME! Anything and everything is fine with me. I’ll try any of it and we regularly eat crab legs, shrimp, tilapia, salmon (although hubbie is not such a fan), mahi mahi, etc., etc. Our pre-schooler will eat almost any of it, too. She easily eats 4 medium shrimp any time you put them in front of her and had tilapia with us last night.

    FISH ME!

I grew up with parents who had very conservative food tastes, so “fish” meant “frozed breaded fish sticks” or, on a VERY rare occasion, Red Lobster popcorn shrimp. Now that I’m an adult, I can’t believe all the great fish I missed out on as a kid! (BTW, if you ever make it to Maui, check out Mama’s Fish House restaurant…they tell you not only the catch of the day, but the name of the boat that caught it!)

I love fish…although I am not a fan of the way our seas are being fished, and I try to only eat wild salmon and tuna.

I have this ahi salad recipe-
marinade ahi filet in soy sauce, sesame oil(a tablespoon or so) and dip in toasted sesame seeds.
Sear for 3 min on each side

Serve over a spinach salad- or other greens- best dressing
garlic, oil, vinegar, sesame oil, and coleman’s mustard powder

    Delish!

    FISH ME!

The first time I tried shrimp was at a friend’s house. My mother had a minor freak out because my dad is allergic to seafood and though I might be too… nope, no problem. I love sea food. I did, however, get sick on salmon the first time I tried it, so I avoided that for a few years but like it now. Especially in sushi rolls. I love sushi rolls!

By the way, I love Charley Harper. So. Very. Much!

I’m guessing you used to live in BK Heights. So sad that they closed that one down. It was way more lax than the Union Square location! Anyhow, I love their stuff. Get it for gifts often for my non-NYC peeps. :)

Lastly, I am not a fan of seafood. Wish I was because it would open the door for many other kinds of meals. Crazy cause my family is fishermen and I have vivid memories of my grandpa chasing me with live lobsters in the kitchen. Perhaps the reason I don’t like it? heheh.

Fish me! I am a lover of seafood! But unlike most things, where I am cheap, seafood needs to be quality, which usually means more pricey. Ever had a cheap scallop or some gross, limp fish? Ew. Love sushi, which gets the best of the fresh fish without being fishy, and well-seared scallops, blackened anything. Okay, almost anything. I hate cod.

FISH ME! I actually don’t like seafood… at all! Except for this one time when I lived far, far up north (we’re talking polar bears) and some locals took me fishing and then had a fish fry. I felt too rude not to eat the fish we had just caught, so I tried and… they were DELICIOUS! But I’ve tried other fish since and it’s not the same. I only like fresh caught fish cooked over an open fire, I guess!

I try and keep away from fish because both trapping fish and fish farming are really harmful to the environment. I’m not a environment nut, but I do respect the world around us! I hope someday that there will be a healthier way to acquire fish~

I like a good plate o’ fish and chips once in awhile, and I’ll try fillets of fish when they’re dressed with something tasty, but I’m not the biggest seafood fan on the planet, I admit. (The appeal of shrimp, for instance, is completely lost on me).
