Fab Freebie: Gone Fishing

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our two lucky winners as selected by random.org are… Susie (who doesn’t like fish, despite her former employment at Red Lobster) and Sarah (who especially loves Maryland crab, shrimp, salmon, and freshly caught smoked trout). Congrats ladies!

Back when I lived in Brooklyn there was this cool dishware store down the street called Fishs Eddy that I loved. Last Christmas I even bought Sherry two coffee mugs from there. And now, in what can only be called a full circle moment, we’re teaming up with them for a giveaway for you guys. They’ve got tons of fun colorful patterns so we’ve put together three around-$50 prize packages of our favorites: the Food Bank pattern (which benefits the NYC Food Bank), the always-classic 212 New York Skyline pattern, and the playful Charley Harper pattern. So each of our TWO winners will get to pick their favorite collection and take it home.

Fishs Eddy Giveaway

  • PRIZE: One of the following sets of Fishs Eddy dishware: (1) Food Bank set including dishtowel, two mugs, and a set of four sauce dishes, (2) New York Skyline set including salt & pepper shakers, a charger, and a set of four 15oz glasses or (3) Charley Harper set including one fish mug, three fish sauce dishes, and a set of four sunset glasses
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FISH ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you stand on seafood? Have you never met a piece of salmon, fried shrimp, or crabcake you didn’t like? Or do you avoid fish like the plague (perhaps because it tastes “too fishy” or you’re a vegetarian)? Maybe you fall somewhere in the middle and only enjoy specific seafood dishes?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 5 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States & Canada (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fishs Eddy.

FISH ME! I have a (thankfully mild ) allergy to shell fish. I’m not a big fan of fish but do enjoy sole or halibut occasionally.

I love seafood. Although I’m sure if I ate it all the time, I would get sick of it pretty quickly.

FISH ME!!! I am the only one in my family born in New Orleans (they are from Chicago originally), and I’m the only one that doesn’t eat seafood. I think I had a bad experience with it when I was little, and it grosses me out. Although, I do love going to crawfish boils, I usually just eat everything else that is boiled with them. So I will eat the corn, potatoes, mushrooms and sausage. If I HAD to choose on which set I liked from Fish’s Eddy, I would choose the Food bank set or the New York Skyline. Thanks for having a giveaway. Oh, and you didn’t say if y’all are seafood junkies or not. How about Clara?

I’ve always enjoyed fish and crab, but never was exposed to shrimp or lobster or anything like that growing up. I never liked it until I lived in the Mississippi Delta and had the real thing– known there as “scrimps!” :)

    F I S H Me!

I have a love-hate relationship with seafood. Most of the time I love it, but seafood seems to me to be either wonderful or disgusting. I think it has a lot to do with how it’s prepared/cooked.

FISH ME! I like seafood to a point. I draw the line with things that taste and feel like eating erasers, and things you have to work too hard to get to. If I’m going to eat, I don’t want to spend an hour trying to get my food out of a shell.

I loved seafood up until the time I was 22 and became deathly allergic to seafood. Now, I am not allowed to eat seafood, but I am allowed to decorate with these creatures from the sea. If I can’t eat them, I might as well admire them! :)

FISH ME! I love love love hard shell crabs – lived near the Bay (Chesapeake) for several years. Yum. But hate hate hate calamari. When I was 8.95 months pregnant with twins (!) my husband John decided to make a big pot of calamari in tomato sauce. To this day, I remember how sick the smell of that cooking on the stove made me. I never ate octopus again.
But surprisingly, the boys (yeah, the twins turned out to be identical boys) don’t mind it at all.

FISH ME! I LOVE seafood but it has to be fresh. I live in Arizona so that gives me zilch options when it comes to fresh seafood. My favorite places are Point Loma Seafood in CA and Malibu Fish Market. My husband and I once flew to San Diego for the day just so we could get our Point Loma fix– over the top but well worth it!!
