Fab Freebie: Gone Fishing

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Our two lucky winners as selected by random.org are… Susie (who doesn’t like fish, despite her former employment at Red Lobster) and Sarah (who especially loves Maryland crab, shrimp, salmon, and freshly caught smoked trout). Congrats ladies!

Back when I lived in Brooklyn there was this cool dishware store down the street called Fishs Eddy that I loved. Last Christmas I even bought Sherry two coffee mugs from there. And now, in what can only be called a full circle moment, we’re teaming up with them for a giveaway for you guys. They’ve got tons of fun colorful patterns so we’ve put together three around-$50 prize packages of our favorites: the Food Bank pattern (which benefits the NYC Food Bank), the always-classic 212 New York Skyline pattern, and the playful Charley Harper pattern. So each of our TWO winners will get to pick their favorite collection and take it home.

Fishs Eddy Giveaway

  • PRIZE: One of the following sets of Fishs Eddy dishware: (1) Food Bank set including dishtowel, two mugs, and a set of four sauce dishes, (2) New York Skyline set including salt & pepper shakers, a charger, and a set of four 15oz glasses or (3) Charley Harper set including one fish mug, three fish sauce dishes, and a set of four sunset glasses
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FISH ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you stand on seafood? Have you never met a piece of salmon, fried shrimp, or crabcake you didn’t like? Or do you avoid fish like the plague (perhaps because it tastes “too fishy” or you’re a vegetarian)? Maybe you fall somewhere in the middle and only enjoy specific seafood dishes?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 5 at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States & Canada (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Fishs Eddy.

    Fish ME!

I enjoy most types of seafood, but haven’t been able to eat shrimp in over a year thanks to a particularly rough bachelorette party.

    FISH ME!!

I actually just went vegetarian about 2 months ago, so I no longer eat seafood. But back when I did, I was obsessed with any and all sushi. I think my absolute favorite dish was when I lived in Hawaii, they make something called poke (pronounced poh-kay), which is just raw cubed ahi tuna tossed with sesame oil and spices. I seriously could’ve eaten it every single day!

FISH ME!I love any and all fish and seafood. I’ve eaten everything I’ve been able to get my hands on from plain ole fish to caviar and oysters to octopus, eel, squid, and I’ve even had snapping turtle (not a fish, but we caught it in a pond!), plus many, many, more! And of course, being the Maryland girl that I am, I LOVE ME SOME CRABS!

    FISH ME!!

Mmmm, I am a HUGE seafood lover. I grew up in an area full of fishermen, so I’ve been into at least lobster since a young age.
I’m less of a fan of when my sister was little and would pull the whole “See? Food!” chewed up food trick. Made me gag everytime…

“FISH ME!” Both my husband and I avoid seafood like the plague. Occasionally I will have tuna in macaroni. But that is rare. I have tried other things, but just am not a big fan, and won’t try anything ever again probably. LOL
My husband, on the other hand, has a firm belief that we have no business eating anything that comes out of the ocean. It is wrong to him on so many levels. And no, he isn’t vegetarian. He just thinks the ocean is a whole other world we shouldn’t eat from. LOL

Fish Me!! Growing up, I only ate tuna (from the can) and fish sticks, which was rough during Lent. I presume that my dislike towards fish was a direct correlation to my mother’s disdain for it. Now, I can’t get enough of it…although de-boning it suuuuucks. ;-)

I used to HATE anything seafood. My dad refuses to eat it, so we never had it growing up. Then I met my (now) husband and I would eat seafood every night if I could. It’s just so expensive here in Memphis. Darn land-locked city.

I’m a big fan of seafood–fish, shellfish, even jellyfish and octopus have impressed me! On the other hand, my husband loves fish, but doesn’t eat any kind of shellfish and I doubt I could get him to try anything more adventurous than that, considering shrimp make him shudder.

I’m a vegetarian, but I have what I call fishues. I don’t like fish at all. Bad experience with them as pets after we added a few that had been tested on into our fish bowl. Grew up by the coast in RI too, so I have really missed out on some good seafood.
