Fab Freebie: Gifts In Bloom

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won (and check out a special discount!)***

It’s the season of giving, aka: the season of gifting. Which is why this week’s giveaway from GiftTree.com should come in handy. Fresh blooms always make a room feel more festive and inviting, especially around the holidays. And GiftTree has a great selection of florals with some holiday flair:

Gift Tree Xmas Bouqet

And no worries if you’re having trouble deciding whether to send a bouquet to your loved one or just to yourself. The $100 gift card that’s up for grabs means you can actually do both.

Gift Tree Belle Ball

Here are all the dirty deets:

  • PRIZE: An $100 gift card towards anything on GiftTree.com, including flowers (they’re made by local florists & may vary slightly from the pics).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GIFT ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a time you were surprised by a gift (whether it was a bouquet of flowers or something else). Maybe your guy got you a dozen roses “just because”? Or you came home to a wrapped present on your half birthday?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 8th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The fifty United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off any order on GiftTree.com with code YHL10. Happy gifting everyone!

And our lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Roshni (who gets surprised often by her husband, so she couldn’t pick just one instance as her favorite). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from GiftTree.

My husband has surprised me several times with flowers. The most recent was when I was feeling down about some things, and he sent flowers that very day to my office! They totally cheered me up and my coworkers said I should get flowers every day!

    GIFT ME!

My hubby is much more the type to pick me a flower than to buy a dozen. Several years ago, a dozen red roses show up at work, which I found a bit alarming because I had no idea where these would have come from!

The enclosed card read “From a guy who never sends flowers.” The man’s still got it :) He doesn’t send them often, but that makes them all the more meaningful. I got another dozen when we got engaged, and another last month on our 4th wedding anniversary! I love the little flowers he brings me, and I love the surprise of a big bouquet.

GIFT ME! My best and biggest surprise was my engagment. I was at a restaurant with my immediate family on Christmas Eve, my now husband came out of the kitchen dressed as a waiter with a ring on a platter. I truly didn’t recognize him at first because I wasn’t expecting to see him.

I was at work when I got a phone call that I had a package at the front desk. I went out to get it and discovered my friend had sent me flowers to say thank you for helping her out earlier in the week. It was completely unexpected and made my day a lot brighter when I was having an otherwise down day.

    GIFT ME!

My husband sent me flowers at work on Valentines Day a few years ago and when someone came to give them to me I was so mystified that I was getting flowers that I truly tried to refuse the order. I was like “no, you must have the wrong person. No…” The delivery person had to convince me they were for me. Flash forward to the next year my husband told me I was not receiving flowers b/c he knew the year before left such a lasting impression. lol

GIFT ME! The best gift I ever received was when I got engaged, I lived in Portland, OR. My best group of high school and college friends lived in my hometown of Alexandria, VA. They had arranged with my one H.S. friend who was in Portland to fly out and surprise my fiancee and me one Saturday morning. We were out to breakfast, and 1 of my good VA friends walked by the table. “Mike!??” He pretended to be in town for business and apologized for not looking me up. Then another friends came walking by, and then another and another. 10 friends had flown out on the red eye to spend 2 days with me and then flew back on a red eye Sunday morning. It made me feel so loved.

We’re pretty good at leaving little notes and trinkets for no particular reason (we’re dorky romantics like that), but, other than receiving my engagement ring, I think receiving a dozen roses at work for no reason was the most surprising. He always gives me a single rose here & there, claiming that ordering a dozen is cliche, but he broke his own rule and had a dozen long-stemmed red roses, complete with teddy bear, sent to my office. :)

I’m typically never surprised because I’m an ace snooper. Can’t help it. Something inside me just screams to find the gifts that I know are hidden in the house. Even at 20 I’m still snooping, but my mom now keeps all my gifts at her work office until Christmas Eve because she knows its state of the art security system is the only thing that can deter my efforts. Doesn’t stop me from searching for the receipts and hacking into her computer’s online shopping history though…

The gift that immediately comes to mind is the computer I received from my parents on my 14th birthday. I was completely not expecting it, especially because I had already received a non-surprise gift from them a few days before – a new desk. But then on my actual birthday, I came home to find that my dad had set up a computer on that desk, complete with “Happy Birthday Kathryn!” as the scrolling screen-saver.

When I was a little girl I wanted a dollhouse sooo badly. One Christmas I rushed down the stairs to see what Santa had brought and completely bypassed a huge box at the bottom of the staircase. My parents alerted me to this fact, and inside the box was a beautiful Victorian dollhouse my grandfather had (over the course of three months!) made me! I was completely surprised and am still blown away by that gift!

My husband and I’s first Christmas as a couple a few years back, he bought me a historic election ballot from the city I grew up in. It meant so much that he thought about the gift and didn’t just buy me a sweater. He knew I loved history and old things– it was that Christmas I realized I was meant to marry this man. :)

My husband bought me the Tiffany necklace I’d be pining for for my birthday this year. I found that one-of-a-kind blue box waiting for me on the kitchen table when I got home from my run that morning. It certainly makes me feel a little more glamorous even when I’m in my mom-wear of jeans and a t-shirt.
