Fab Freebie: Gifts In Bloom

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – scroll down to see who won (and check out a special discount!)***

It’s the season of giving, aka: the season of gifting. Which is why this week’s giveaway from GiftTree.com should come in handy. Fresh blooms always make a room feel more festive and inviting, especially around the holidays. And GiftTree has a great selection of florals with some holiday flair:

Gift Tree Xmas Bouqet

And no worries if you’re having trouble deciding whether to send a bouquet to your loved one or just to yourself. The $100 gift card that’s up for grabs means you can actually do both.

Gift Tree Belle Ball

Here are all the dirty deets:

  • PRIZE: An $100 gift card towards anything on GiftTree.com, including flowers (they’re made by local florists & may vary slightly from the pics).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GIFT ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about a time you were surprised by a gift (whether it was a bouquet of flowers or something else). Maybe your guy got you a dozen roses “just because”? Or you came home to a wrapped present on your half birthday?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 8th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The fifty United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

******************************

Not only do we have one winner, but everyone can get 10% off any order on GiftTree.com with code YHL10. Happy gifting everyone!

And our lucky winner (as selected by random.org) is… Roshni (who gets surprised often by her husband, so she couldn’t pick just one instance as her favorite). Congrats!

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from GiftTree.

    GIFT ME!

My husband surprised me with diamond earrings on Christmas morning when I was pregnant with our second child. They were beautiful and giving a gift that elaborate isn’t his style so it was a real surprise!

My husband has surprised me with many wonderful gifts over the years and some have been lovely flower arrangements. But I remember one year for my birthday a flower arrangement of lovely purple flowers in a purple flower-shaped tea-cup came from out of the blue. Purple is of course my favorite color ever. No one world fess up for weeks! It drove me crazy and was such a sweet gesture. Eventually I found out it was from one of my sweetest friends from out of state. I’ll never forget that one!

I was surprised by the autumn-themed placemats our kids made for us when they were at my mother-in-law’s house. My little boy isn’t very good at keeping secrets, so he handed me the gift bag and said, “It’s placemats.” :)

    GIFT ME….
It was our 2 year wedding anniversary, but I was headed to a job interview, and stopped by the apt office on my way. Grabbed a package, and went to my interview. When I got back out to the car, (after an amazing interview, in which I got the job) I opened the package to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers. They were really for our anniv. but felt like they were for the job interview :)

One of my surprising gifts was a really cool NorthFace backpack from my husband for my birthday right after I started back to school. He said he knew I would be in school for a while and wanted it to last. (5 years running and it’s still great) :)

Gift me!!! When my husband and I got engaged and I was looking for a job in his town, he surprised me with a t-shirt and portfolio from the university where I had an interview. He thought they would bring me good luck and they did! I got the job and we will celebrate both our 4th wedding anniversary and my 4th year on the job in 2011.

A few months after being married, my husband left flowers in my car while I was working, which, if you knew my husband, you’d know is a big deal. (He’s the kind of guy that doesn’t like to drive across town unless he has to) Anyway, it was a great surprise for me! :)

I was uber surprised when my husband planned a trip to NYC for our first anniversary. He arranged for my time off with my boss and then gave me clues a few days before we left so I could guess where we were going. It was totally romantic!

    GIFT ME!

My daughter was born a month ago today. When I went into labor, my husband stopped on his way home to get a dozen roses which followed us to the birth center and then to the hospital after 40 hours of labor…. 17 laboring hours later, Larkin was born. The flowers started as buds and after 57 hours, they had turned into full blooms. They lasted for a week after that and we were able to use them in photos taken of our sweet girl. Best surprise “present” ever came to me and my brother in the summer of 1991. I still remember the night my mom came home with a bunch of stuff in shopping bags and opened them. I know I was confused why we would be getting all this animal-related stuff, since we didn’t have a pet. That was, until my parents told us we were getting a dog the next day! I don’t remember annoying my parents to get a pet, so I guess they just decided it was time. We picked up my dog Toby from the pound the next day (Mom and Dad had already picked him out, we just had to go get him), and he was my best friend until he passed away New Year’s Day 2000. Sweetest pound puppy ever! :D

Gift me please! One of my favorite surprise gifts was when I was working at a doctor’s office and was scheduled for Valentine’s Day (which was Saturday that year) and my husband made a 45 minute drive one way to my work to drop off a bouquet of my favorite flowers. It was extra special because I had never received flowers at work before!

We have a grad student renting one of our spare bedrooms (we live very close to DC, and she goes to school in town), and her parents sent us a beautiful basket of flowers to say thanks when we invited her to share our Thanksgiving with us, since flying all the way out to the Midwest seemed rather silly with Christmas coming around the corner. We turned it into our Thanksgiving centerpiece, and enjoyed the blooms for weeks.

    “GIFT ME”

I was surprised on my birthday with flowers. These weren’t ordinary flowers nor was this an ordinary birthday. I was 5 months pregnant and hated sweets (And I’m a sweets finatic!). My husband isn’t a flower giver either. So imagine my surprise. This was the 1st time after 2 years of dating. The flowers were made into a birthday cake with carnations and 1 beautiful red rose in the middle with a very nice card.

GIFT ME! Last year, my husband and I bought a new oven range. Well, the company took away the old oven, and we totally forgot to take out our baking items in the bottom drawer, including our beloved pizza stone!! The women in my accountability group at church pitched in and bought us a new one! That was definitely a surprise.

BTW, I just came across your blog and I LOVE it! My husband and I have been living in total chaos for the past year while we’ve been doing renovations to our condo. We re-did our floors for the ENTIRE downstairs of our condo, and for a week we were eating off an ironing board in our bedroom and doing dishes in our bathtub! Oh, how I wish I had known of your blog then! The information you have is so helpful! Thank you!
