Last gift I was surprised with was a B&N Nook from my husband. I love it! But of course, it’s all about giving, so the best gift we ever surprised someone with was a car for my 15 year old daughter. Bought her a shiny red VW beetle 5 months before her birthday because her dad would be missing her 16th thanks to deployment.

My fav. surprise was my first anniversary gift from my husband. I found an “old” bottle while walking by the lake on our weekend getaway. When I looked inside I discovered a poem he had written for me. Such a romantic!

When I was six years old my family visited the Sears Tower in Chicago. A middle-aged Japanese man ran up to me calling “daughter! daughter!” in a thick accent, handed me a rabbits foot, and disappeared into the crowd. Don’t know why he did it, but I still have that gift.

When I was pregnant with my second child (first one was a miscarriage) we were keeping things on the down-low until well into the pregnancy in case of another miscarriage. My husband went on a trip to a NASCAR race out of town with family and when he came back home he gifted me a cute onesie. I cried when he gave it to me. Such a sweet memory!

My surprise gift was actually on Christmas; it was a print that I used to stare at in the doctor’s office. I was entranced by the details in the painting and my mom took notice and bought it for me for Christmas! I didn’t even know I wanted it but I LOVE it.

My boyfriend is a property manager at a bohemian-style apartment building and he occasionally comes home with junk that people leave behind when they move… iPhone chargers, marbles, etc. One day he came home with a old hard-cover copy of “Where the Wild Things Are” and wrapped it in a bow for me. It was just something he stumbled upon, but he knew I’d love it so he went the extra step to wrap it up – which was super cute.

The biggest surprise gift I ever got was for my first Mother’s Day. My daughter was born only 3 weeks earlier and he gave me a small diamond circle pendant called a circle of life. He said that I wanted to be a mother so badly (we had fertility issues) and he wanted to make sure my first Mother’s Day was special. Totally unexpected and sweet.

My hubbie is always surprising me. I think the best one was when he proposed though. It had snowed (which is really rare)and we were outside playing in it. I thought he was picking up a snowball on the other side of the car but he was actually getting the ring ready and preparing to get down on one knee when I pelted him with a snowball. lol.
