Fab Freebie: Gettin’ Jiggy With It

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you read this morning’s post about DIYing some wood shelves for the nursery, then it should come as no surprise that this week’s giveaway is from Kreg Tools. They’re giving one of you the chance to take home their Kreg Jig, so – no matter your skill level – you can feel like real woodworker.

Kreg Jig Materials

After all, I hardly consider myself to be a master craftsman, but after my latest shelf-building adventure I’m itching to tackle more wood-related projects. They really can be addicting…

Shelves Close

In addition to the Jig itself, this week’s winner will also be snagging a 675-piece Screw Kit, a Face Clamp and a set of project plans to get you started. So with all that at your disposal, I promise not to be jealous if you build something more complex than me. Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A Kreg Jig, Screw Kit, Face Clamp and set of project plans.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M GETTIN’ JIGGY” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your dream wood-related project. Is there something you’ve always wished you could build? Or a renovation that you dream of tackling with your own two hands?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 7th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: All 50 of the United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    I’M GETTIN’ JIGGY….

Actually, I’m gettin’ weepy. I could have very much used this when I was building my knockoff-inspired bed frame a few months ago. I could cry thinking about all the angled pilot holes I tried to drill, and all the wood I splintered. I finally got the whole thing to hold together with lots’n’lots of brackets (that I immediately painted over). Ya can’t tell now what a pain the project was, but I don’t consider it a success.

Now I’m shopping for antique barrister bookcases. My husband thinks we can make them. I just sigh and fight back tears.

I have a miter saw and feel all powerful when I use it but unfortunately at this point I’m capable of cutting wood and then can’t do anything with it (other than make baseboards). I’d like to be able to actually build something. Anything.

I want (my husband) to build a picnic bench for our back patio–one of those really cool kinds that are 2 benches, with backs, but then you can fold the backs up and they form the table part of the picnic bench. They are awesome, as are you and the “Craigs” for this giveaway!

My husband has a long-standing dream to build our (future) children a set of bunk beds. It is kind of hilarious to me since he has basically never built anything, but I support his goals and this set would at least prepare him for the task!

I would love, love to replace all the baseboard in my house with something more substantial – and in much better shape than what I have now. The previous owners must have had a lot of kids and a dog or two – a few corners are chewed up and all the rest of the baseboard is all beat up. It needs help!! :)
