After all, I hardly consider myself to be a master craftsman, but after my latest shelf-building adventure I’m itching to tackle more wood-related projects. They really can be addicting…

My dad has built 2 homes and is working on his last dream home in the Philippines. lots of acres and big mansion later, my two sisters and I get to choose our vacation bedrooms and decorate!! we’re all super excited to see it for the first time next february for our mom’s 50th birthday.
I really want to learn some building skills from my dad, he is so talented and disciplined. I sure hope the dream house isn’t his last project so he can teach me. I would love to build something with him to contribute to their new home like an out door project: gazebo or play house maybe.

My dad has always does lots of wood projects around my parents’ house. He actually built their whole deck and made fancy banister poles (??) for the whole thing with a miter saw (!?!). I’ve been itching to remodel out kitchen. Mind you, I have NO remodeling experience but we’re dirt poor and I can stand it. Our house was built in the 1940’s with no apparent standards set up for it. Doors are special order. Windows are special order. Heck, I’d love to tear it down but that’s not an option.
