Fab Freebie: Gettin’ Jiggy With It

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

If you read this morning’s post about DIYing some wood shelves for the nursery, then it should come as no surprise that this week’s giveaway is from Kreg Tools. They’re giving one of you the chance to take home their Kreg Jig, so – no matter your skill level – you can feel like real woodworker.

Kreg Jig Materials

After all, I hardly consider myself to be a master craftsman, but after my latest shelf-building adventure I’m itching to tackle more wood-related projects. They really can be addicting…

Shelves Close

In addition to the Jig itself, this week’s winner will also be snagging a 675-piece Screw Kit, a Face Clamp and a set of project plans to get you started. So with all that at your disposal, I promise not to be jealous if you build something more complex than me. Here’s how to enter:

  • PRIZE: A Kreg Jig, Screw Kit, Face Clamp and set of project plans.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “I’M GETTIN’ JIGGY” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about your dream wood-related project. Is there something you’ve always wished you could build? Or a renovation that you dream of tackling with your own two hands?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 7th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: All 50 of the United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I am really getting jiggy (as Jerry Seinfeld would say). I am now in the process of building cabinets for my garage for tool storage, etc. They are really looking pretty good so far. I love designing and building face frames. I recently bought a Kreg jig for installing drawer runners for my cabinets. Again, what a great tool to have. I can see much more building and many projects in my future. I enjoy reading other peoples’ comments.

I’m gettin’ jiggy! My husband promises me every day that he’ll make me something else…you know, when he has time. :) I would build some new shelves for my chinchilla’s cage…so he stops eating all the plastic shelves! Unfortunately the wooden shelves are way to expensive to buy.

Well, I don’t have any wood building aspirations for myself, but there is quite a few things my hubby could build with some snazzy tools… namely a hutch/china cabinet, a trunk or some kind of storage unit/coffee table, and/or matching bookshelves. Hmmm he should get to work ;)

I’M GETTIN’ JIGGY! I’ve been planning to turn my carport back into the screen porch it was at some point in the past, which will just be building the fourth wall and rebuilding the saggy third wall. I’m also planning to take apart an Ikea futon that has the slats too far apart to be comfortable, cut each slat in half, and use those half-width slats to build a more comfortable chaise longue with an outdoor cushion on top, for lounging on the screen porch.

This is perfect timing! We have SO many projects on our to-do list thanks to the weather warming up. We have big plans around here, starting with a dining room table. Yes, that’s right- we want to MAKE our own dining room table! I have some creative ideas up my sleeve to make it look not so DIY and work in ornate details. We also have plans to make an L-shaped desk for me. I need room for sewing projects, scrap-booking, present wrapping and general computer usage. So hand over that prize! (please?) ;-)

I’m Gettin’ Jiggy! That’s for sure. The project I would love, love, love to build and enjoy is a bookshelf that hides a doorway. When I was little, I went with my mom to a restaurant near Chicago. But when we walked in, there was a book room. I experienced the surprise and excitement of having to move a bookcase in order to enter the restaurant. It was sooooo cool, and it’s a fun memory I have of my mom who is no longer with us. Anyway, I was recently telling my daughter about this idea and the experience I had. It would be super cool if I could do such a thing here and pass along a very cool thing to the next generation. Thanks! And thanks a lot for the info!!!

We need to build a wooden peg-like device that can hold our clarinet mouthpieces and barrels. My husband and I have degrees in clarinet performance and we have lots of [expensive] clarinet equipment that we would like to store in a pretty and stable. So far all of our skills have been in music and not in carpentry, but maybe that will change one day!
