Fab Freebie: Doggone To Sleep

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

A couple of weeks ago we asked our Facebook fans to share pictures of their pets (since we talk incessantly about Burger) and got an awesome response – over 100 photos and links of their four-legged friends (which you can browse right here under Fan Photos). So we figured a giveaway geared towards your pooches (and meowsers) was in order. Enter AllModernPet.com stage right…

AllModernPet Web Site

AllModernPet.com is just one ofshoot of a slew of sites (like AllModern.com) that offer a wide range of products for us humans too, from Herman Miller office furniture to Murray Feiss lighting. But that pic of the Boston Terrier sprawled out on his dog bed had us at hello, so we present to you an AllModernPet.com pet bed giveaway. One lucky pet parent will win their choice of an awesome easy-on-the-eyes bed so their furry family member can sleep in style (and your pup’s “bedroom” can be as stylish as your own).

AllModernPet Dog Beds

Here are this week’s giveaway details:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of one dog bed from Bowsers, For The Dogs and Harry Barker (Rectangle or Round), any size and fabric you’d like (valued at up to $151).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “DOGGONE IT!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about the strange place(s) your cat or dog currently likes to fall asleep. Burger’s got a whole list of weird places and positions that he dozes off in, so we’re sure your pets have some kooky sleeping habits of their own.
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 9th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One (well, two if you count the winner’s pet)
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA this time (including Alaska and Hawaii)
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

our westie, Duncan, likes to sleep on the back of our couch. we had a cat when we first brought him home as a puppy, so he grew up learning how to nap like a kitty! at night, he sleeps under my bedside table… always on my side, not my husband’s. :)

I have a bulldog. He likes to sleep everywhere. He does prefer a spot with some kind of head rest. His usual place is at the end of the couch. He has his own pillow and blanket there at all times. Really, the worst thing about his sleeping habits, is that he loves to be held. I’ll sit on the couch, and he sits on my lap. That might be great for Burger, but my dog is 65 pounds.

    DOGGONE IT!

I got my two girl kitties, Sadie and Charlotte, when I was living by myself in a teeny apartment in college. When I would get home from class, I could never find them in the apartment for an hour or two, until they would waddle in to the living room. One day, I opened my desk drawer to get a pencil, and there they were, snuggled in together with all of my office supplies! My old desk was missing the back of the drawer, and they climbed up into the drawer through the back.

At three years old, they’re much too big to fit in a desk drawer now. But we just bought new bedroom furniture, and one of the nightstand drawers didn’t have the bottom fastened all the way. Now that we have an extra drawer, they’ve made it their sleeping spot. The two of them fit in there just right with our younger cat Weenie Man!

DOGGONE IT! My Boykin Spaniel, Chappy, never fails to surprise me at the spots he’ll fall asleep. Any floor space, any rug, any piece of furniture, he’s more than happy to stretch out and nap. Or curl up and nap. He’ll sleep on his back, sleep on his side. He’ll stretch all four paws out in “Superman” style. He’ll curl up and kick out his back, right leg. He’ll stretch out on his favorite chair by the window and drape his front paws over the edge. He’ll sleep just about anywhere. Except the car. Don’t ask him to sleep in the car unless he’s really, truly exhausted because he gets carsick in the car.

Do I think any of these locations or positions are unusual? Not really–though the miniature Dachshunds we had before would never, ever have considered sleeping on the bare floor, or without a blanket covering their heads. But the mere fact that he will sleep anywhere is totally endearing–though, of course, I love it best when he curls up next to me.

DOGGONE IT! If our dog Biscuit had her way, she’d sleep fully stretched out on her back between the two of us, with her head resting on one of our pillows. She totally thinks she’s a person, and seems to be rather put out that instead she has to sleep in her bed on the floor.

My min-pin Penny (Penny Pinscher) likes to sleep next to the toilet in our guest bathroom. I guess it’s because there’s a vent right next to it and tile under her?! Very odd, but at least we keep our house clean enough that it’s not too gross haha!

DOGGONE IT! Our 90lb. pyranees mix Toby sleeps in our shower at night. If we forget to open the door for him when we go to bed he will sit there and stare at the shower door, then at us, back and forth until someone opens it for him. I guess he likes it because it’s the coolest place he can find. He used to sleep wrapped around the toilet when he was smaller, but now he won’t fit and gets stuck sometimes behind it!

One of our cats, Tater, likes to sleep in a picnic basket… He will open the lid, snuggle up inside and the lid closes, leaving him privacy to nap in peace. He also likes to sleep under the bed, but his tail and one leg are usually left out to trip whomever is walking by…
