My grandparents passed away last year within months of each other and I find myself buying things – snacks, kitchen rags, dishes – like she had. I even bought the perfume Opium because that’s what my Gaga wore. I carry it around, I don’t wear it. Just take it out and smell it. I was lucky to have them around for 39 years, God I miss. them.

My favorite smell…hands down…is laundry dried out on the line. It reminds me of my grandmother, my mother, of summers as a child, of running around barefoot in the grass…all happy memories.
