I love perfumes…my favorite company is Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (they make an amazing amount of perfumes, inspired by everything from literature to comic books, myth to the time Paris Hilton was in jail–scents called “Privilege” and “Pruno”). My favorite scents are usually clean, although I also like rose scents, herbal scents, and this once perfume called “Plague of Frogs” (it smelled very green, not surprisingly).

The strangely sweet and lightly cinnamon-y smell of the brown kraft paper that tools and metal parts sometimes come wrapped in is a very pleasant one.

So now it’s the smell of foods that remind me of childhood summers spent traveling the world: chocolate cake baking; cukes,mangoes, watermelons as they are being cut; warn cinnamon raisin cookies etc
