One of my (if not THE) all-time favorite scents is the smell of burning wood. Whether it’s the smell of a bon-fire on the beach or BBQ in the backyard during the summer, or the smell of a wood-burning fireplace in the winter…the smell of burning wood is something that’s so easy to distinguish among other smells. It instantly brings childhood memories of things from camping to Christmas to mind.
A funny (but not really) anecdote re: my favorite scent. One day we pulled into my parents’ neighborhood and smelled what I thought was backyard grilling. With a rumbling in my stomach we rounded the corner only to see that a neighbor’s old shed was on fire! Luckily, no one was hurt and the shed and contents were the only thing damaged, but I couldn’t help but feel disappointed to know that the source of that wonderful smell wasn’t burgers after all. :)
