Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My best friend Megan and I met in college, became roommates sophomore year, and basically became obsessed with each other. That year we discovered that we both have a secret love of Punjabi music and both tend to eat our feelings with rainbow sherbet and pumpkin pie.

My best friend is my husband and we met in middle school. Of course I was the one with the crush and he just wanted to be friends. Fast forward oh….. 10 years and he was the one begging to be my forever boyfriend (husband).

It was the best thing I ever waited for. Now we are partners in crime, oh, I mean life.

My BFF met in my home state of Alaska. She was my MOH to my first husband. Held my hand during my divorce and was my MOH at my second wedding, years later. I do not see for years but we talk at least once a month. Thank heavens for Skype! Good Luck with your drawing!

My bestie was actually born on the same day as me. She in Illinios and me in Virginia. We met in our 20s and now we are in our 40s. She is my sister from another mother. Before she moved to Texas, we walked every Saturday,we called it 6.2 miles of therapy. Saved us both thousands on marriage counselors.

As the great Mindy Kaling says, “Best friend isn’t a label, it’s a tier.” I am so super lucky to have 5 people in the world I consider to be my best friends; I met one when I was 3, 2 at the same time in middle school, 1 in college and my fiance :) They’ve all saved me from being the weird hermit that I’m naturally inclined to be and I am forever grateful that such awesome people want to be my friends!

BYOF Me! My BFF’s name is Jessica, and we met in high school on the bus on one of the first days. We clicked immediately. We don’t have a secret handshake or special nicknames, but we do have a series of hand gestures to fill in words that we can’t quite remember and it grows every time we can’t think of a word. No one else understands them and we don’t have to explain them to each other, even the first time we use them. I guess we’re on the same wavelength!

Is it corny to say my husband is my BFF? When the going gets tough–or great–I head right to him. We have our less than stellar moments, but he is still my favorite person. Runner up would be my college bestie, who just had a baby. I think sharing motherhood will strengthen our bond, if that is possible.

My BFF is my little sister Christina! She is the best friend a guy could ever have. She is open minded, non judgmental, loving, kind, caring and beautiful to boot! She lives in Las Vegas, NV and I live in Budd Lake, NJ. We talk 3 to 4 times per week, and at her wedding on 2/16/2013, I got to assist her by taking her to the ceremony, ensuring our Dad was ready to walk her down the aisle, and getting the groom to the altar.

We like to shop, laugh, dance, sing…and horror movies! We scream our heads off, always have, always will.

My best friend is Lauren (also my name). We have been friends for as long as we’ve been alive since our parents were neighbors when we were born. We always come up with crazy nicknames for each other…my current one being Griswold since my mother and step father were complete clutzy and something always went wrong. We have done everything you can think of together and we always have a blast. We used to “fight” we were younger but it consisted of “You’re not my friend anymore” and then five minutes later we were fine. I love her and she always makes me laugh!
