Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

“BYOF ME!” My bff is my friend Cosette. We’ve been friends since high school and we have worked together for 13 years too! We both like to go to the local casinos and have a fun time. No secret handshakes but we call eachother bad names at work (all in good fun) and have been through everything together from weddings to funerals..

My BFF and I met in high school because everyone kept confusing us. We were about the same size, looked similar, and had the same name, so I suppose I can understand it. Maybe. She would love the hell out of an IKEA gift card!

My BFF and I are not really typical BFFs – we don’t spend hours on the phone, giggle away all the time or anything that would sound ‘typical’. But we are always there for each other when it counts!

I met my two best friends when we all attended a church young married group. Both their names are Heather, so I always refer to them collectively as the Heathers. I miss them quite a lot right now as we just moved from Kansas City to Oklahoma City.

My best friend was once upon a time my college roommate. We both lied on our roommate applications about being “slightly lived in” with regards to our personal space, even though we were both total slobs. The good people at residence life saw through our bs, and more than ten years later, the rest is history!

    BYOF ME! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

My BFF Kristyn and I have known each other since she was born and I was 8 months old. Our moms were close friends and we were raised together. We even shared a bath tub for bathtime until we were around 6 years old. (The horror story of the century is the one about me puking in the tub when we were 4. I was horrified to the point of puking because she had a *GASP* booger hanging out of her nose. So I hurled. Naturally. Hey, I had a weak stomach! And my mom had the NERVE to yank her out of the tub first so I had to stew in the goo an additional 3 minutes as she cleaned Krissy up a bit.)

For reasons I am not entirely clear on, I’ve called her “Krissy Pissy Poo” for most of our lives. Or occasionally “Krissy Pissy Puddin’ and Pie”… Yeah, I don’t get it. She calls me Beth-a-bee. Or Beshy. We have several made-up dances. And we often end up using this weird voice when we talk. It’s odd. We’re not normal.

I do have other “best friends”, but she is el numero uno. “Best friend is a tier, not a person.” – Mindy on The Mindy Project

(Dear Jeebus, I need to win this. We really need some wardrobe action happening in my bedroom. My husband and I have enough clothes to accommodate at least a dozen people, and we need help corralling it all!)

this is sooo unfair! why don`t we have this is Norway? I mean, we live side by side with Sweden, and I`m not even going to get started on how many names they`ve ripped of from Norwegian, to call everything they sell.. Like Bestå.. I mean, that`s sooo not Swedish. oh my, how I ramble on, but I just really want this to happen at our local Ikea as well. sounds awesome!
