Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

BYOF Me! My BFF and I met in fifth grade, and I thought she was THE coolest because she wore colorful socks with capri pants and knew all about professional sports. Since then, we’ve been through everything together – high school, college, weddings – and now I’m the proud godmother to her adorable 1-year-old girl. I couldn’t ask for a better best friend, or one more deserving of a little extra IKEA spending money. Thanks!

BYOF ME! i’ve known my best friend since second grade. we started out “rivals”, and often found ourselves competing for the same parts in class plays. that all past in third grade when we decided competing was too much energy and instead joined forces. my husband and i are getting ready for our first baby and my bff just moved into a brand new apartment. so we could all certainly use the moola at ikea!

B & me (T) met when we started at the same company on the same day oh so many years ago. I’ve dealt with many a fun (drunken) nights and I can’t wait to look her 2 year old twins in the eye and just say, “guess what Mommy used to do?” hehe

BYOF ME! My best friend and I met when we were 5(um, 25 years ago). Our brothers were on the same baseball team so we met at one of their games. It was the summer before we started kindergarten and even though we live so far away, we are very close to this day.

Other than my 4 sisters, my BFF is Nicole whom I call Nic. Not very original, but it’s my name for her. I’ve only known her for 3 years, but due to our former jobs we spent a lot of time with each other. We became such good friends that we felt comfortable enough to jam out (very badly) in the car together.

My bestie and I met and became friends in college. We now live in seperate states and share a love for sports, DIY’s, and bad reality TV. We dream of the day when we will live together in a nursing home, making things (like blankets) for the other residents and watching reality tv.

BYOF ME! I met my bestie when I was 16. We had never met before, but when a mutual friend introduced us, there was a mutual recognition. We have been besties ever since. The most interesting thing about us is that we have very similar tastes. Throughout the years, we have dated a few of the same guys (at different times of course) and when she met her husband but didn’t want to go out with him, I told her quite seriously: “Go out with him, you’ll regret it if you don’t. That man is the one you are gonna marry.” They were married about a year later!

BYOF ME! My bestie is my sister. We are both adopted and when she came over from Korea and we picked her up at the airport as an infant (yes it really happened like that) my first 4-year-old thoughts on her were: “Is she always going to smell this bad?”.

Now I’m happy to report she smells much better.
