Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My BFF and I met one summer during college while in a community theater production of, wait for it…Annie. We’ve been besties ever since (except for one year we don’t speak of) and have gone everywhere together!

My best friend and I were roommates in college! We were on the same volleyball team and have been best friends ever since! We have been through all sorts of craziness together, but I can’t imagine having a better person by my side! My favorite memory is when we went to NYC with our mom’s for Christmas! Such a fabulous trip frolicking around the city!

My best friend is my husband, because… he’s awesome. Why else would I marry him? We met in high school where we took German together. We’ve been friends for just as long. We’re really laid back around one another, so I am certain we do weird things together other than living with one another, but I can’t think of any right now. I have recently started calling him “Doe”, because of the song from Sound of Music. We were babysitting at the time, and I called the baby “ray” and obviously I was “me”, so he had to be doe. It’s not a serious nickname, but what is?

    “BYOF ME!”

My BFF is either my twin sister or my husband.

My sister I’ve known since utero, we’ve been known to make the same comment (whispered) during movies. And know most of each other’s stories and hot-buttons.

My husband I met my first year of college when he came with a friend to a club meeting. We call each other all sorts of endearments and currently just try not to call each other and our toddler the same endearment in a row. Or maybe that’s just me.

We would LOVE to be able to get some awesome stuff for our little townhouse from IKEA and turn it more into “home” even though “home” is wherever we’re together. Sappy but true :)

My bff and I just celebrated our 20th Friendiversary in September (and even took a vacation to commemorate it!). We met in our 1st grade class. She invited me to the zoo and we’ve been bff’s ever since. Two years after we met she moved to Iowa and I would fly up to see her (flying by myself at 8 was very exciting!) and now we’re lucky enough live 7 minutes away from each other. She’s pretty much amazing.

BYOF ME!! My bestie and I have known each other for 20 years and met in elementary school. Though we’re both pretty young, the past few years we’ve bonded doing old school activities like canning our own jam, urban gardening, and sharing recipes. We both have boys and two are 11 months apart – so obviously they’re best friends, too! Coincidentally, one of our favorite activities is shopping at Ikea because she’s lucky and has one in her town!
