Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My BFF was my roommie in vet school. We rented a house together my Junior year, but didn’t really know each other that well. Now she lives across the country, I wish I could see her more :-(

My best friend and I worked at the same company many years ago. Our friendship has survived moves, children, and many birthdays. She is busy watching me plan my new kitchen with Ikea cabinets. (Gnossjo doors, how did you get the Swedish version of the umlaut to work?)

When my future bestie (I’d never seen her before) got up to speak in front of the women’s group at our church, she seemed instantly familiar to me. I leaned over to my roommate at the time and said (with surprise), “That’s my new best friend!” 8 years, 2 husbands, 2 kids and a cross-country move later, we’re still living it up! Some things you just know. :)

Talk about perfect timing…. my very best friend and I started our own DIY blog… TODAY! What are the chances that the your giveaway is dedicated to BFF’s on the same day as our YHL inspired blog launches? [insert creepy music here]. Our blog is by far the craziest/weirdest/bravest thing we’ve ever done together. #holyyikes

As scary as this whole process has been, being together throughout the journey has made it totally worth it.

My best friend and I met in college when I was a sophomore and she was a freshman. We met through a campus fellowship, but soon discovered we grew up going to the same campground in a different state! I actually had memories of her helping her grandma at the ceramics shop 10 years prior! Now I get to be her maid of honor this summer at her wedding :)

My bestie is originally from NC. I met her when we were both in Florida. Because of her thick Southern accent, I nicknamed her “Carolina”, which I call her to this day. Ironically, 2 years ago, I moved to her hometown of Raleigh, NC. I guess technically, I’m Carolina now, but the nickname has stuck. :-) Thankfully, she’s been talking about moving home. Looking forward to having a partner in crime up here!

I met my best friend in middle school and the rest is history. Sports together travel together, complain together, drunken nights together. I love that we can pick up the phone after a couple months and pick up right where we left off. Oh and we have matching tattoos and she was one of 9 people at my wedding. No nicknames but we both know what HB stand for. :)
