Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

    “BYOF ME!”

See, I actually have lots of besties, which makes things complicated – my college bestie (who is pregnant, and I can’t wait to see this spring when I go out to see her) hates leftover macaroni and cheese, so as roommates, whenever she made it, I got to eat leftovers.

My grad school bestie and I met on a study abroad in England, so we love getting British beers together and bonding over fish and chips.

My after-grad school bestie and I are baseball buddies – we had a blog together about our team, and we used to live down the road from each other, which made carpooling to games super easy.

My BFF and I grew up together in Chicago, IL and were roommates in college and still best friends! We are so similar that people used to think we were either twins or the same person. We have read your blog from start to finish and love you guys! When we were in Ikea last weekend together we kept saying “John and Sherry have that” or “Sherry does this” like we know you guys personally – we aren’t creepy I promise! We did have a handshake because we played basketball together in college but it wasn’t fancy just something we did all the time

I have Known my BFF since college some 40 years ago. We roomed together after, when we were really poor – boxed Mac and cheese for dinner every night poor. Lost touch for about 20 years, got back in touch and went on like we had just seen each other the previous week. She’s like a sister to me.

BYOF Me! My best friend is my Mom. She always has time for her 5 children and 11 grandchildren. She’s my project buddy…any time I get a whim to reorganize, redecorate or paint, she comes over asap in her old clothes, paint brush in hand and ready to work. She’s a 10-year cancer survivor, a faithful wife of 44 years, a nurturing grandmommy, a servant to anyone in need, and fun person. I am blessed to have her!

My BFF and I met in middle school. She was one grade below me. She and I did almost everything together. Now our adult lives has us living far apart and keeps us both busy. It’s hard to get the chance to meet up and hangout. If I won this, I would most definitely bring her to Ikea with me for some breakfast and probably lunch and some fun shopping:)
