Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

    BYOF ME!

My BFF and I met 12 – 13 years ago. Promptly started dating and have been married for 5 years this year!

In case you haven’t guessed, my BFF is my husband. Aww. :-)

We have more inside jokes than I have cat hair on my clothes. I have two cats so you do the math.

BYOF ME! – This may sound cheesy but my BFF is my husband. We met through a mutual friend and my first response upon talking to him is this guy has to be my BEST FRIEND. The rest of the feelings came shortly thereafter…but he is my best friend now and always.

My bestie and I met in college and our fav thing to do together (before we moved to different states) was to lay in bed or on the couch and watch our favorite shows. We’d also run errands together just cause we like to be together :) Love her!

BYOF ME!…My best friend and I have known each other for ten years now and lived together for about half of that. During that time we were pretty much inseparable. Once, I stopped by a friend’s house solo and he asked where R2 was…which is only funny when you realize that I am 6′ tall and she is only 5’2″ and we probably look like C3P0 and R2-D2 running around together.

(Does this story make me the biggest nerd of all time? Maybe…)

My BFF was my college roommate and now lives in my neighborhood! It’s the best! We met in choir together at the University of Washington and after walking to our different homes one day soon after we met we chatted about how we had no friends and were lonesome and should hang out sometime. Then SIX MONTHS LATER we became roomies and the rest is history. We even came to meet you guys together in Tacoma! WOOT!

BYOF ME! I met Ellen through my husband – they used to work together in high school/college at Target – a bunch of them remained friends. She knew I was cool when I showed up to our friend’s house with the game Heart Throb (that game is awesome) – but it wasn’t til I brought her to my zumba class, that we really discovered all we had in common. Also, I introduced her to YHL so she has me to thank for that. ;)

This is really the most depressing thing I’ve ever had to say in a comment, but I don’t really have a best friend right now. It turns out that I’m really bad at picking good, loyal friends. I did recently meet a new friend though, and I gotta say, she’s got potential!

I know this is sappy, but my boyfriend is my best friend. We’ve been together for nearly five years, after meeting in college, and I often tell him that he’s the only person in my life that I don’t have to filter myself with.

On a side note, I was totally planning an Ikea trip this weekend (it’s a bit of a haul for us, as there’s not one in our city). So winning this gift card would be preeeetty sweet :)
