Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My best friend and I met in third grade. The weirdest thing we do together is watch every single bad reality show and talk to each other on the phone through the entire episode.

BYOF ME! My BFF and I met back in high school (we’re now 31) while life-guarding at swim club. We used to cruise around in my little yellow VZ Cabriolet and yell “unibrow” at cars stopped next to us at traffic lights while holding our index fingers up to our brow region mimicking said unibrow.

My BFF is Whitney, our maiden names’ makes us JJ & WW. I call her Whit she calls me Jess. We have been besties since preschool at 3!! we now live about an hour apart and have a hard time getting together since we work shift schedules (nurses) but when we do get together its like we’ve never been apart. It’s truly amazing how easy it is to pick up where we left off without a hitch!

My BFF is also my boss! Her and her husband own a photography studio, check them out at mcclanahanstudio.net. They are awesome! Something weird we do…well, we yell at each other for not sitting up straight cause we both slouch. Gotta have good posture! Haha, lame, I know. But it make us laugh :-)

Now I am moving to Italy where I hear they have no closets!!! I need IKEA!

We’re off to Ikea this weekend to stock our nursery for our soon to be twins. Love the giveaway!

I met my BFF when I was 2 years old and she was 3. Our moms were friends from middle school and lost touch after high school, but then reconnected when they both had kids! We live across the country from each other now, but keep each other updated and can pick up like no time has passed at all when we get to see each other. I guess that happens when you’ve known someone your WHOLE LIFE! going on 24 years… eek!

I met my best friend 6 years ago. Right off the bat we just clicked. Needless to say after 6 years of silly pet names (Schmoopie is one of the cheesiest we’ve had, I am ashamed to say), crazy globetrotting adventures, an adorable rescued pup (nicknamed “Jelly bean,” so cheesy, but we love her!) we got married and are living happily ever after. Best part? We just bought our first house and get to move in at the end of the month!

My BFF and I met in college. We got into all kinds of messes (of the clean fun type), like switching classes and seeing if our Profs noticed. We don’t live close, as she is in Denver and I’m in PA, but we make it a priority to get together. We chat every day and share all of our DIY projects with each other!

My BFF became my hubby 7 years ago. We attended rival high schools and a mutual friend set us up. I don’t think our friend had a clue we’d still be together 13 years later!

We were planning on heading to our local-ish IKEA on Saturday, so what a fun surprise to find out about the festivities going on. Thanks for sharing!
