Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

BYOF ME!!!!!! My BFF and I met when I was 9 years old. He was my older brothers friend and lived right down the street. He would always pick on me (still does, lol) but once our teenage years came we hung out every day and he became my friend more than my brothers. and even though we live 1000+ miles away now, we can still pick up right where we left off!

I met my best friend Addie out freshman year of college when we were randomly paired together as roomies. We both love musicals, and we sing duets from them whenever we can!

    BYOF ME!

I met my BFF in 8th grade – we were both at a party for this girl neither of us really liked, and we were kind of bored. We started talking, became good friends in high school, then in college we roomed together, and the rest is history! One of our favorite activities in college was going out and getting the cheaper drug-store highlighting hair kits and we’d pull each others’ hair through the caps, apply the dye, and then read magazines and make fun of the celebrities or the articles. We have a great pic of us together in our caps!

My BFFs are my two cousins, so we’ve known each other nearly our entire lives! We love to plan trips together because we all live in different parts of the country today. In October, we met up in San Francisco to celebrate one cousin’s birthday.

BYOF ME!!!!! I met my bestie first at a 2nd grade birthday party of a mutual friend (we went to different schools). She then moved two houses down from me the summer before 5th grade and we’ve been best friends ever since (we are now both 33). She was my maid of honor and rapped part of Will Smith’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand” as part of her toast at the reception because it was one of our favorite songs!! I was laughing/crying…an awesome memory!

My bestie and I met 2 years ago, immediately wanted to train for a half marathon together and the rest is history. She’s there anytime I need her, ran throughout my whole pregnancy with me, now back to running and training for another half marathon 5 months after I had my baby and her and her husband come over once a week for “family” dinner.

BFF is my husband. We met playing wallyball. We became close when I helped him build a fence, piece by piece (no sections). We love tackling home projects together, our brains function differently so it’s a good balance.

My bestie and I have been friends for about 8 yrs. Weird as it sounds, neither one of us remember exactly how we met but we’re pretty sure it was at church. We were in each others weddings, have been through a lot with each other and even though she and her husband moved across the US to California last summer, we still keep in contact through FaceTime and love hearing about all the new adventures they are experiencing!

She is a beautiful person inside and out and we agree that we feel more like the “sister-we-never-had” to each other than friends.
