Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My best friend, Megan, and I have known each other since we were 8-years old. We’ve been through a lot together, and even though hundreds of miles now separates us, I love that we always pick up right where we left off. She’s pretty much my hero.

    BOYF me.

Honestly, my BFF is my cat Loki. I am a stay at home wife and he follows me around the house when I do chores and then snuggles with me as soon as I sit down to relax. BFF in human form is my college roommate Julie! I can’t believe we are still friends (the random roommate generator done well!) and we continue to have crazy adventures and obnoxious inside jokes. I know for a fact that all of her bedroom furniture is from Ikea so I think she would enjoy a gift card much more than the cat.

My BFF is hands down my husband. We met through the ever so traditional online dating site, but instantly clicked. He was the type of man I could hang out with for hours on end and have a great time–drinking beer, laughing at each others stories, and ultimately feel comfortable being myself. It was so easy being his friend and impossible not to fall in love with him.

BYOF ME! My best friend and I met in PreK, and then lost touch when we went to different elementary schools. Luckily, we reconnected in middle school. We’ve been best friends ever since! In middle school we gave each other the nicknames “Gabs” and “Abs” because of our initial (GB and AB).

My best friends are my Mom and my sister. We have opposite tastes in EVERYTHING but we have the BEST time shopping together because we pick things out for each other that we would never pick ourselves! They both live 1,300 miles away from me, but an IKEA shopping trip could bring us together in a heartbeat! :)

BYOF ME! I met my best friend when we were college freshman. I was in a cool phase of very tight black pants heels and she was makeup-less and wearing a ratty tie-died t-shirt and frayed Umbro gym shorts. Little did we know that 15 years later she would be a svelte and fashionable novelist featured in magazines like Cosmo, and I would be relegated to the couch on bedrest for my 4th baby, wearing my husband’s ratty old fleece because that is all that fits. :)

My BFF and I met on the school bus the beginning of 6th grade. To date myself, I had “awesome” pictures of John Schneider and Tom Wopat all over my notebooks and Dukes of Hazzard stickers on my Trapper Keeper. She was, of course, drawn to them and had to ask me the obvious “So…do you like Dukes of Hazzard?”. And here we are, still BFF’s 33 years later.
