Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

I met my BFF when we were 12 at the town fair. None of our mutual friends wanted to ride the more daring fair rides so I rode with her. Two years later she became my sister.
We’ve been BFF’s for 20 years and sisters for 18. Now between the two of us we have three adorable little girls that are all within a year of each other and a big family play group. Which is pretty fantastic since neither of us would have had nieces and nephews otherwise.
We live about 4 hours away from each other and our Boston Ikea is the meeting middle ground where we go hang out and shop several times a year.

My BFF and I met in a group of couples going to the 9th grade dance. Kerie was a friend of a friend at the time, but we went on travel to Haiti in 11th grade, become college roommates, and be each other’s maid of honor. I’m so glad she still lives in the same state : )

BYOF ME!! My BFF’s mom and my mom were friends before we were even born! We’ve been BFs since elementary school and we would always doing weird / crazy / creative things as kids…build a hamster apartment out of cardboard, hot glue and GLITTER…on the pool table, anyone?! I’m not sure how our parents continued to let us hang out after that one. We do have funny nicknames for e/o because we both have(/had) long last names that we’re conducive to bad nicknames.

Needless to say, i would be thrilled to gift these two wonderful lovlies with an IKEA gift card so that we could deck out the nurseries (Swedish-style). Meet them both in college – the greatest friends a girl could ever ask for.

My bff Beks and I met working the overnight shift. At first I thought she was so hip and stylish and beautiful she couldn’t possibly be nice, too. I was so wrong, she’s the nicest girl I’ve ever met and I’m so lucky to know her. We’ve been buds through various love interests, moves, and childbirth, and she’s been there for me every step of the way.

My best friend and ! have been friends for nearly 17 years! She has been there when I boarded the plan to head abroad for a year, gone with me on a trip when it was a much needed vacation and even made me the godmother of her daughter. through our friendship I have learned a friend knows just because you may not be the best at staying in touch doesn’t mean you don’t want to, and never makes it weird to pick up where you last left off.

I met my friends Jenn and Caitlin salsa dancing last year, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. One thing we are doing this year is writing down all of the cool things we do or say (and by cool we also mean usually embarrassing) and putting them in a shoe box. Then on New Year’s Eve we’ll read all of them and relive what an amazing time and friendship we have.
