Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

“BYOF ME!” My bestie is Sara. We love to craft together and go to Mexico. We do take our hubby’s along :) We have been friends for about 3 years but it seems like forever. She is such a blessing to me! One of our favorite things to do is make Ikea road trips. Our closest one is about an hour away. Thanks for the giveaway!

My bestie and I have known each other since we were 14 (that was 13 years ago! oh gosh…) Sadly, I now live in AZ and she lives in FL so we don’t get to see each other as much as we’d like. But she’s coming out here this Saturday – it’s going to be an amazing week of movies, gossip, and long walks through Target! I can’t wait!!!

My best friend is Leigh and we met because I got locked out of my dorm room while in the shower the first week of college Freshman year.Leigh saw me standing staring at my locked door in a towel on the verge of tears and offered me some clothes and a place to hang out while waiting for my roommates. We clicked immediately and by chance, her roommate had dropped out after a week, and Leigh invited me to move in to her room with her. We have been best friends ever since! We love to watch marathon TV shows together while eating ice cream … to relive those college dorm days!

My closest friend and I have known each other since the beginning of time but weren’t close until we started working at a bank together in our early 20s. We are pretty boring, no nicknames for either of us, no weird pastimes (though there was a Hot Springs bathhouse incident in the mid ’90s that has left both of us scarred for life, ha!)

My BFF and I have been friends since third grade… scratch that, we strongly disliked one another in third grade… by 6th we tolerated one another and by high school we were attached at the hip. Unfortunately jobs, husbands and life have left us 3 states apart. Back in the good old days we spent a fair share of our free time making up dances to an interesting array of music… there’s video footage… it’s demoralizing… I’m totally ok with this.

My bestie and I have been BFF’s longer than we’ve been alive. Our mom’s were friends since they were in junior high, so we grew up very close. Probably the weirdest thing about us is that people constantly assume we’re not only sisters, but that we’re twins. We don’t see it, but we apparently look enough alike that strangers feel the need to comment on it ALL the time.

“BYOF ME!” My best friend is my husband (cheesy right), but he really is. I can’t image having anyone else to share crazy life moments with. He is my biggest cheerleader and support system. We love to do stupid dances to make each other laugh and baby girl thinks we are hilarious (well for now in a few years we will be embarrassing).

My best friend and I met through a woman neither of us even hang out with anymore! Our girls are the same age, so we spend more time sitting on the floor than in chairs, more pouring milk than wine— things have changed! But we haven’t, and that’s why I love her.

My best-frienship is split into two: My two college roommates Paula and Emily. We’ve been through it all, as only girls sharing tiny spaces for 8 years can. Nicknames range from Spanish-inspired to dinosaurs (yep.) for reasons too varied and not-funny-to-anyone-but-us to share. This giveaway is the perfect way to celebrate since we’ve taken so many trips to the glorious land-o-Ikea together over the years already!

I met my bestie while we were both living in Switzerland. I was at hockey practice and my 3 year old looked over at a kid at another table and said ‘Hi, Thomas.” Thomas’ mom, Jennie, looked at me and said “Do you speak English?” We’ve been best friends ever since. Now Teegan (my son) and Thomas are 17 and about to head off to college. Jennie and I live 15 minutes apart in New Jersey, now and still see each other every week.

Cheese alert: My husband is 100% my best friend. I first remember seeing him in the dorm laundry room, and I immediately noticed how painfully slow he was at folding clothes. Plus he wasn’t wearing a shirt. We legitimately met at a casual party a few weeks later and had our first date the same weekend. 8.5 years later he’s still incredibly slow at folding laundry :)
