Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My BFF is my husband. He and I are both wannabe writers who haven’t been making the time to write lately. Yesterday I was complaining about my lack of writing time, and he suggested that we sit side by side with our laptops for an hour at night instead of watching TV. Last night was our first night and it was so much fun to bounce ideas off of my bestie and write for an hour instead of just staring at the tube. I love that he knew I needed that extra push and was willing to join me to make it more fun.

My best friend and I met in 8th grade when I moved to Englewood, NJ and joined the school she was already attending (we’re going on 20 years now!). The one thing we did together that was interesting (I wouldn’t say weird, and completely unplanned was have a baby at the same time. Her son and my son were born 2 days apart.

One of BFF’s, I grew up with in Brazil as missionary kids. We liked each other’s brothers, dressed up like boys, rode horses together, got into crazy accidents together, even got married the same summer. Now all grown up and she even has a 6 month-old. This would be a great gift!

My bff and i met at a 2 week out of state training for our new jobs. We were placed as roomies, and it’s a good thing we were, because we couldn’t stand any of the other people there! :) We’ve been bffs for 5 years now, we even left that original place of employment and worked somewhere else together for a couple of years.

My BFF is my husband, and we met at a nickel arcade in college because we had mutual friends. We definitely have nicknames for each other, and we can’t help but do weird and silly stuff together. We are the couple that our friends roll their eyes at when we are being “too cutesy”. No secret handshake yet, though.

BYOF Me! We met freshman year of college and then pledged the same sorority. We lived together pretty much all 4 years and then moved in together with 2 other ladies right after college. She stood beside me as my maid of honor in my wedding in 2011, and has always been such a loyal friend. We love to text each other whenever we get “misty” over sappy commercials or tv shows, even though we are states apart. She never feels too far away and I love her so much!

My husband says all we do when we are togther is giggle (His view on our conversations– “chickens chickens *giggle giggle* gardens *giggle*”). LOL, I think it’s great that we are always laughing!

Rachel and I met at summer camp and have been friends for 23 years now. Over that time our long distance friendship has been maintained through old fashioned letter writing, then emails and now text messages and Skype. We don’t get to see each other as often as we would like to in person but that doesn’t mean we’re not kindred spirits.

I have several “best” friends from all walks and all parts of my life. One of the very best is Lisa, and we met sophomore year of college and roomed together for the rest of our time there. We’ve been besties now for 14 years, and though we live very far apart, the distance is nothing for us! We have like 70 nicknames for one another that are too bizarre for me to even share here, I think. Every time we are together shenanigans transpire and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Thanks for this great giveaway opportunity…it would really help my husband and I out in creating a “big girl room” for our almost 2 year old!

Also this would be super handy because the nearest ikea is almost 3 hours away and we are planning a trip there in April. Crossin my fingers!
