Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

    BYOF ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please :)

I met my BFF nearly 9 years ago! We met in Defensive Tactics in college. We were both Criminal Justice majors. We enjoyed hanging out after class. The funny this is my BFF was a guy :) He helped me to come out of my shy shell. We ate mexican food at least 3 time a week between classes. I would have never guessed that after hanging out as friends that we would grow so close and eventually end up married. We now have two absolutely wonderful kids. My husband is my BFF. He knows me better than anyone (including myself).

My BFF and I met in college. At first glance, I thought she was some stuck-up (please excuse the sterotyping) sorority girl. She thought I was some crazy tomboy who had a strange love of power tools. We bonded one day over each of us unknowingly wearing an identical pair of bright pink, quilted (I can’t believe I’m admitting this) paisley pants. Yes, they really were made… Thank you Express. Needless to say, we were both happily wrong about our first impressions. (Except for the power tool bit…) We still laugh about it 10 years later!

BYOF ME! My BFF and I met playing volleyball as 12-year-olds in middle school. We’ve stayed close for nearly fifteen years since then, all through different colleges, grad programs, jobs, and moves. We love to do pretty much anything together, but eating is definitely up there–and playing arcade games at our favorite bar! We’ve also spent our fair share of weekends just cuddled up on the couch talking through silly movies though :)

Met my bff in college – I was an RA, and she had the audacity to declare during my first floor meeting that she was my favorite. Had never seen her before in my life. 9 years later, turns out she was right :) Weirdest thing we love doing together is calling to tell each other embarrassing stories of people who hit on us. For example: drunk Irishman on a bus in London.

My best friend is Mary. We have known each other for 15 years. We met when were both stationed in Biloxi, MS. Even though we have lived in different parts of the world for much of our friendship, we are still close. In fact, we made the decision to move to Nashville (in 94 days) just so we could be in the same town again!

My best friend and I met the day I was born. Our moms were besties and they visited me in the hospital the day I came into the world. Since 24 years provide lots of time to be weird, here’s the most recent. In high school we spelled out the sound of our initials and wrote each other notes Dear Kajerr (KJR) and Dear Kafoom (KFM). Since I have gotten married and she’s getting married in August, I texted her that Kafoog (KFG) Kajoom (KJM) just don’t have the same ring to our past nicknames. What weirdos!

BYOF ME! My best friend and I met in college. We had an art class together. Towards the end of that semester we realized that we each had a roommate, but were looking for a second set of roommates so we could live in a suite on campus. So we decided to be suite mates. She said she thought I was the “nice quiet girl” in class and wouldn’t be hard to live with. She learned otherwise ;)
