Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

BYOF ME! I met Peanut and Jelly Bean in college. They are quite possibly the greatest college roomates anyone could have ever asked for and we all need a little Ikea in our lives.

BYOF ME! My best friend and I met because when I was 3 I moved next door to her. We are sooooo different but we balance each other out. We’ve taken extremely different paths, yet somehow ended up living about 20 minutes from each other. She just had her first baby and I’m so happy to be nearby! Also, my Mom and I are planning our trip to Ikea, so this is perfect timing! It’s 5 hrs away for me so I don’t go nearly as much as I’d like.

My sister is my BFF…now. Growing up, we did not get along at all. In fact, people would constantly tell me that we’d be friends as adults, and I never believed them. Now that we’re adults, we are really close. How we met? When she was born — I’m 2.5 years older.

My bff and I have been friends since about 5th grade, but it was after high school that we got super close. Now we are kinda ridiculous with each other, but cannot imagine life without the other. (Luckily our men just accept our sisterhood and don’t question it.) We love to craft together and we’re always dreaming up fun creative projects to do together! =)

The weirdest thing we’ve ever done together? Probably go to Boston (2+ hour drive) in a snow storm for a book signing (our first!) for a couple of DIY die-hards. You may have heard of them…? =)

My bestie and I have been friends since 7th grade. We’re still best friends and we talk on the phone every other day. We were each other’s Maid of Honor and now I’m Godmother to her little girl (my son doesn’t have Godparents, because we’re heathens, but if he did she’d be it).

Craziest thing we do/did together? In middle school I made up a song about going pee… and we still occasionally sing it. Don’t ask.

BYOF ME! I have known my best friend since kindergarten and we can practically read each other’s minds now. We refer to each other as “my other half”, even though we are both married now. Thankfully our husbands get how close we are. Oh, and when we go to Ikea, we leave the husbands at home because it is much more fun just the two of us.

BYOF ME! My best friend and I met 18 years ago in our college dorm. We quickly became roommates and have been best friends ever since. We think we are hilarious, even if sometimes we’re the only one who gets the other’s jokes. We don’t have a secret handshake, but we always yell “Pivot! Pivot!” a la Ross Gellar anytime someone uses that word. :)
