Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My best friend is Ashley, we met nearly eighteen years ago(fifth grade). We aren’t so close now that we’ve both married and are busy, but we enjoy eating out and catching up…

I took one look at her purple backpack with pink hearts and a matching heart key chain and I knew i wanted this girl to be my best friend. Crazy but true, a backpack decided this for me. My bestie and I met in kindergarten. She was the new kid in school and when our teacher stood in front of the class and introduced her, I distinctly remember thinking this.

25 years later and we are still faithful best friends, were maids of honor at each other’s weddings, and now she is an amazing mama and I get the joy of being Godmother to her delicious baby boy. Thank goodness she had keen fashion sense picking out that backpack, or I may have missed out on an amazing friendship. :)

My bestie and I share 30% of our brains; she is my soulmate. We met in high school and became friends in college. We giggle at all the same things, I can tell her things I can’t tell anyone. She and I make all the same references and see to have this way of talking that references all our inside jokes and such that no one else gets.

I met my best friend when I learned that a friend in college had a roommate who slept in the bathtub. I imagined a tiny little guy who turned out to be 6’3″ and 215 lbs! He is my best friend always and the best dad one could wish for… not a bad husband either! ;-)

I met my best friend Cassidy in 9th grade during lunch in the cafeteria. We have been best friends for almost a decade now! I will be the maid of honor in her wedding this summer.

We have many things that we do together that are weird. I make funny faces at her when she is crying to get her to cheer up. Cheese-its are our comfort food.

We would love a shopping trip to Ikea :)

She’s Kumquat/I’m Banana following a school lunchroom rountable conversation among our friends centered on the question “If so-in-so were produce, which produce would she be?” (What about you, John and Sherry? What produce best represents/embodies your spouse?) :)
