Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

We went to the same high school and graduated together and have been besties since. We can usually be found in each other’s cars singing at the top of our lungs, haha. She calls me all sorts of things cause I’m a lot weirder than she is. She’s the sensible one. :)

I met my best friends in college. We have been called the Justice League, lol. Corny. We still make time for monthly book club meetings and late nights out six years later. I can always count on them to give me painfully honest (sometimes unwanted, but helpful) advice & enough laughter to bring me to tears.

my dear friend Lindsey-Lou (who y’all can call LBO) I met almost 2 years ago. we’re both moms, wifeys, and she and her husband moved to the next town over from Virginia Beach. (we’re in Georgia). anyways, we weren’t close right off the Bat, but it sure didn’t take long to realize we both have the same weird, hilarious, dry, random, and highly inappropriate sense of humor. so, we stuck like glue. and, not to be sappy, she is a huge encouragement to me along this crazy life train. annnnd, she introduced me to YHL, and we tried to come to the book signing in Atlanta, but something about our kids were sick or husbands working late….the usual. she is my BFF. and we love IKEA. man. in fact, I tried to go there today and bring her along, but her son needed to go to the doctor & she is in the first trimester with her third babe….alas.

anyways, BYOF ME! (I’m not even sure what that means?? but for real, I will do anything for a $100 gift card. and I will also do anything for my BFF).

    the end.

BYOF ME! I’m going to join the many other people and say that my BFF is my boyfriend. We met online 2 years ago right after I moved here. The weirdest thing we like doing is to watch movies (which is pretty normal) but to put together jigsaw puzzles at the same time (which for 20 somethings is a bit weird I think). I call him Boo since that’s how he starts his emails or IM’s to me and I get called Goo mainly because it rhymes with Boo I think.

my best friend is a girl named Alex, we met in 10th grade and she is awesome. We have the same terribly sarcastic sense of humor, the same ridiculous fangirl obsessions and most importantly she taught me how to be comfortable with me. She’s awesome and I will never be able to tell her how much I love her

BYOF ME! She was my first roommate in college. Before matching students together, the school would have you fill out a personality survey. A couple of weeks into rooming together we were discussing the survey and discovered we both answered the survey as negatively as possible because we thought it was a waste of time!

I met my best friend in college. I was a transfer student and she was an exchange student from Germany. The college had a luncheon for transfers and exchange students and we hit it off right from the start. Vive la Internet because it has helped us stay in close contact in between trips. But when I went through a divorce, she was on a plane in a flash, and helped care for my little one while I was dealing with the aftermath. Love her so much!

My best friend and I met at a local history club meeting. I saw her from afar, gave her the evil stink eye for knowing my then-boyfriend and giving him a big hug, then talked to her and realized she was awesome + sauce. Soon thereafter we realized that we were sisters-from-another-womb, boy was ditched and we are living happily ever after as neighbors. :)
